Medical Assistant – Primary Care

Position Summary
MedOne is seeking a Full-time Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support for our new Primary Care office. This role supports patient care, daily office operations, and a smooth, compassionate experience for patients, families, providers, and staff.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Support
  • Record vital signs, medical histories, medication updates, and chief complaints accurately.
  • Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Administer injections, perform phlebotomy, and complete basic lab tests as directed and within scope.
  • Provide patient education on medications, preventive care, and follow-up instructions as directed.
  • Maintain supplies and ensure equipment is clean, stocked, and functioning properly.
  • Follow infection control, clinic policy, and safety standards.
Patient Communication and Care Coordination
  • Respond to patient and family questions professionally and promptly.
  • Address concerns appropriately and escalate issues when needed.
  • Schedule appointments, referrals, and follow-up visits to support continuity of care.
  • Route provider questions and communications to the appropriate resource.
Administrative and EMR Support
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the EMR.
  • Support EMR workflows and basic troubleshooting as needed.
  • Submit new patient demographic and insurance information for billing purposes.
  • Support daily office operations and efficient patient flow.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification preferred.
Experience: Prior primary care or outpatient clinic experience preferred.
Skills and Competencies
  • Strong clinical knowledge and familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Professional, patient-centered communication style.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Accurate and efficient typing skills.
  • AthenaHealth EMR experience preferred.
