Position Summary

The Clinical Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the clinical operations of a home health agency. This position provides direct assistance to the clinical team, helping ensure accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination of patient care. The role works under the clinical oversight of the RN Clinical Manager and Administrator and practices within the Texas LVN scope of practice. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and experienced in home health workflows, particularly related to EMR systems, OASIS documentation, and scheduling support.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Documentation & EMR Support

  • Review and audit clinician documentation for accuracy and completeness (e.g., OASIS, Plan of Care, visit notes).
  • Track, flag, and follow up on documentation deficiencies or missing signatures.
  • Assist with uploading, organizing, and maintaining accurate clinical records in the EMR system.

Coordination & Communication

  • Support field staff with real-time clinical or scheduling questions.
  • Serve as liaison between clinicians, intake, QA, billing, and administrative departments.
  • Communicate with physicians' offices to obtain signed orders and clarify care plans.

Regulatory & Compliance Support

  • Monitor compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation and agency protocols.
  • Assist in preparing for surveys or audits by ensuring clinical records are complete and accurate.
  • Support the QAPI program through data collection and tracking of clinical indicators.

Training & Technical Support

  • Provide EMR guidance to new or existing field staff.
  • Assist with onboarding processes for new clinicians regarding documentation workflows.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure:

  • Current, unrestricted Texas LVN license
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and automobile insurance when travel is required.

Experience:

  • 1–2 years of experience in home health, healthcare administration, or medical office setting.
  • Strong working knowledge of EMR systems
  • Familiarity with OASIS, Plans of Care, Medicare documentation standards a strong plus.

Skills:

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
