Reports To: IT Manager

Position Summary

The IT Support & EMR Analyst serves as the primary point of contact for end-user technology support while also acting as the organization's AthenaOne subject matter expert. This role provides desktop, help desk, hardware, software, and Microsoft 365 support while maintaining and optimizing AthenaOne workflows, integrations, user access, training, and operational processes. The ideal candidate possesses strong customer service skills, healthcare IT experience, and a working knowledge of AthenaOne EHR/PM functionality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

End User & Desktop Support (50%)

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for approximately 175+ users across multiple clinic locations.
  • Troubleshoot Windows workstations, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and peripherals.
  • Manage user accounts in Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and related systems.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, and clinical workstations.
  • Support network connectivity, wireless access, VPN connectivity, and remote users.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and lifecycle management.
  • Document incidents, service requests, and resolutions within the ticketing system.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding activities.
  • Coordinate with vendors and third-party support providers as necessary.

AthenaOne Administration & Support (50%)

  • Serve as the primary AthenaOne support resource for providers and staff.
  • Manage user provisioning, security roles, permissions, and department setup.
  • Configure and maintain AthenaOne templates, order sets, schedules, and workflows.
  • Troubleshoot AthenaOne issues involving scheduling, registration, billing, claims, patient portal, and clinical workflows.
  • Support AthenaOne integrations and interfaces.
  • Coordinate upgrades, testing, and new feature deployments.
  • Analyze workflow inefficiencies and recommend process improvements.
  • Develop training materials and conduct end-user training sessions.
  • Generate operational and clinical reports as requested.
  • Partner with clinical, billing, and operational leadership to optimize AthenaOne utilization and performance.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of desktop support/help desk experience.
  • 2+ years supporting AthenaOne, Athenahealth, or comparable EHR platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Windows 11
  • Microsoft 365
  • Active Directory
  • Azure/Microsoft Entra ID
  • Basic networking concepts
  • Printers and scanning technologies
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to support multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Preferred

  • AthenaOne implementation or optimization experience.
  • Healthcare IT experience in ambulatory or specialty practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365.
  • Experience supporting medical devices and clinical workflows.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications.
  • Athenahealth training or certification experience.
