If you take pride in safe, precise equipment operation and enjoy being part of a hardworking crew, we’d like to meet you. We’re looking for an Equipment Operator to support excavation and dirt work using a variety of heavy equipment. This position reports to the Project Foreman or Project Superintendent.


What you’ll do

  • Operate excavation/dirt equipment and wheeled or track skid loaders to complete assigned work safely and efficiently
  • Perform daily pre-use inspections; lubricate and service equipment as needed
  • Report equipment issues promptly and accurately
  • Complete routine maintenance and minor repairs within your scope
  • Follow all site safety requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Support the construction crew with general duties when operator work is limited
  • Help train and orient new employees as needed
  • Participate in hiring/employment processes when requested
  • Promote teamwork and positive, professional communication on site
  • Attend site meetings and share updates/ideas as requested by the Project Superintendent
  • Follow directions and work assignments from the Foreman or Project Superintendent with a sense of urgency

What we’re looking for

  • Ability to read and follow safety rules, warning signs, and site directions
  • Ability to read construction drawings and understand job plans
  • Comfortable taking measurements and working from grades/stakes
  • Strong knowledge of safe operation for the types of power construction equipment assigned
  • Good judgement of distances, slopes, and surroundings
  • Clear, respectful communication with coworkers and field leadership
  • Ability to manage your time, stay organized, and respond to changing jobsite needs

Requirements

  • 3+ years of equipment operating experience (required)
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Have reliable transportation

Work environment

This role is primarily outdoors in all types of weather. You may be exposed to heat, cold, dust, damp conditions, ice, precipitation, and mud.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to climb and maintain balance on scaffolds and ladders; reach, handle, and manipulate objects and materials; and lift/carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly. Ability to stand/walk and to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods is required. Acceptable vision (with or without correction) is required.
