Job Description

Dave Gill Chevrolet is seeking a Part-Time Cashier/Receptionist to cover our afternoon/early evening shift.

The Cashier/Receptionist is responsible for receiving and processing payment for services rendered or parts/materials purchased. He/She explains vehicle services performed to customers and accepts payment in cash, credit card, or check. The Cashier/Receptionist records the payment amount and closes repair orders in the computer system. The Cashier must operate specific software programs to keep track of customer data such as service history, parts purchased, and/or contact information. He/She may need to calculate materials charges, repair charges, and taxes and must understand various types of warranties.
The Cashier/Receptionist is also responsible for answering the Dealership's multi-line switchboard, managing customer phone inquiries, and efficiently routing calls to the proper department, which may involve transferring a call or paging a colleague over the company paging system.
The ideal Cashier/Receptionist candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of money-handling experience, a pleasant and helpful Customer Service-focused demeanor, exceptional verbal communication skills, an ability to multi-task, and an affinity for math.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greets customers in a friendly and appreciative fashion
  • Answers telephone inquiries and routes calls quickly and efficiently
  • Receives and processes payment for products and services
  • Processes credit and debit transactions, checks, and other forms of payment
  • Operates system software to accurately maintain customer data
  • Encourages repeat business by acknowledging the customer's purchase with gratitude
  • Performs other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required; some post high school education or training preferred
  • One year of money handling experience in a retail environment
  • Point-of-sale (cash register) and credit/debit card processing skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance
