Director of Construction

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Salary: Up to $175,000 + Bonus + Vehicle Allowance + Profit Share + Full Benefits

A well-established and rapidly growing commercial general contractor is seeking an experienced

Director of Construction to lead its operations across the Columbus, Ohio market. This is a key leadership position offering the opportunity to influence company growth, mentor high-performing teams, and oversee the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of commercial construction projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven construction leader who is passionate about operational excellence, developing people, and driving business performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership across all construction operations.
  • Oversee multiple Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Engineers, and field teams.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and improve operational processes, project controls, and company procedures.
  • Work closely with Preconstruction, Estimating, and Business Development teams to support future growth.
  • Manage project performance, profitability, schedules, staffing, and resource allocation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Mentor and develop future leaders within the business.
  • Monitor financial performance across projects, identifying risks and implementing solutions.
  • Foster a culture focused on teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of commercial construction experience, including senior leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven track record managing multiple large-scale commercial construction projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership experience overseeing Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Background with a commercial general contractor is essential.
  • Experience delivering projects within sectors such as healthcare, education, industrial, office, hospitality, multifamily, or mixed-use.
  • Strong commercial and financial understanding with the ability to drive profitability.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision‑making skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
