Description
The Data Analytics program at Denison University seeks to hire a Visiting Assistant Professor for a two year term, commencing in August 2026. Our program at Denison is an interdisciplinary major training students to answer questions with data. Our students develop models using current statistical and computational methods to analyze and predict outcomes across a range of liberal arts disciplines. The program prepares students to be creative problem-solvers by emphasizing hands-on, experiential modes of teaching and learning through a broad array of liberal arts tools. We seek to hire an individual from one of the many disciplines that are representative of the applied, interdisciplinary nature of Data Analytics. Candidates' primary discipline may be in the social, natural, or quantitative sciences or the humanities. In any case, candidates must also have formal education in data analytics methods, or active engagement in scholarship involving advanced data analytics techniques. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. by the start date (ABD will be considered as an Instructor until a Ph.D. is obtained).
Candidates must demonstrate potential for successful teaching at the undergraduate level. Teaching responsibilities will consist of courses in the Data Analytics major. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to teach statistical concepts, quantitative reasoning, and elementary programming in R using Tidyverse workflows. Python experience and the ability to teach SQL and other types of data models is preferred but not required. The teaching load is six courses per year.
