About the Analytics track within the ST&S graduate program
ST&S is bp's face to the traded markets in oil, gas, power, chemicals, renewables and finance. ST&S's role is to improve bp Group value through distinctive supply, commodity trading, risk management and technology skills. This is underpinned by outstanding analytics, finance, control and compliance infrastructure. ST&S has a dynamic and highly skilled workforce, which builds value by combining analysis and commercial innovation with the material asset base of bp.
Trading Analytics and Insight partner with commercial decision makers within ST&S to deliver distinctive incremental value through unique analytics and innovative solutions, while also leveraging capabilities to advance our net zero strategy.
The Analytics Graduate Development Program is structured to provide a broad overview and introduction to analytics for a new employee. The analyst will spend three years in this role with rotations in market analytics, structuring, and data science.
The areas of exposure can include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform regular and ad-hoc fundamental market analysis to support trading and origination in new or strategic markets
  • Fundamental and technical trade idea generation
  • Identify fundamental gaps in existing analytics processes and determine methods to drive improvement
  • Assist with recruiting and development efforts

Minimum Requirements
  • Working toward Bachelor's degree
  • Graduating between December 2026 and May 2027
  • Current Cumulative GPA Minimum 3.0
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. with no restrictions (bp will not support U.S. Immigration sponsorship for full-time or long-term employment)
  • Must be available to start on agreed upon global program start date (June 21, 2027).

Key skills required include:
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Strong technical skills (math, statistics, programming, etc.)
  • Experience with Excel and/or some type of programming language (Python, R, etc.)
