Job description

  • Create and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for flexible packaging materials
  • Manage market trends, supply assurance, quality improvement, supplier development, sustainability, and financial and supply risk mitigation
  • Manage relationships with manufacturing facilities
  • Develop and implement cost savings projects and financial forecasting
  • Negotiate and execute contractual agreements according to company policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with established processes and procedures
  • Develop disruption mapping and mitigation strategies
  • Foster and maintain supplier relationships
  • Lead supplier selection and development with R&D, Marketing, Quality, and other cross-functional teams
  • Develop innovative products across Scotts Miracle-Gro brands
  • Ensure suppliers follow sustainability guidelines and implement required actions
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, cost structures, risks, and partnership potential
  • Develop and grow one remote direct report
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree focused in Supply Chain Management, Packaging, Procurement, Accounting/Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of experience within Procurement, Sourcing, or Purchasing
  • Ability to coordinate numerous material requirements for multiple plants and contract manufacturing facilities simultaneously
  • Experience sourcing suppliers and negotiating contracts for targeted materials
  • Ability to effectively navigate a regulated industry
  • Knowledge of technical R&D and vendor language and Brand and Purchasing business language
  • Strong computer skills, including SAP, SAP/PLM, and Microsoft Office
  • Some international purchasing experience or responsibilities preferred
  • Ability to communicate with multiple departments
  • Consumer Products or Retail experience a plus
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
