Job description

2-month contract

Position Summary

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Quality Engineer to support inspection, rework coordination, and daily customer communication for installation-site quality activities. This individual will lead a small pod team (Quality/Process Technicians and a Test Technician), leverage historical CAPA and defect insights to guide inspections, and serve as the primary liaison between the customer site and internal manufacturing and engineering teams. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and comfortable owning daily execution rhythms, reporting, and accountability for quality outcomes.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Coordinate goods inspections using historical CAPA insights and field defect reporting data.
  • Lead and manage rework execution, assigning tasks to Quality/Process and Test Technicians.
  • Gather feedback from test activities (e.g., system or robotic functionality) and coordinate rework actions as required.
  • Participate directly in inspection and rework activities to maintain quality and schedule adherence.
  • Run daily operational cadence, including kickoffs, checkpoints, and closeouts, in coordination with internal engineering and manufacturing partners.
  • Own daily communication with the customer, providing status updates, findings, and ownership alignment (acknowledging responsibility or challenging findings with supporting data when appropriate).
  • Deliver clear daily reporting to customer and internal stakeholders on inspection results, trends, and completion status.
  • Coordinate replacement material delivery timelines and track logistics.
  • Process RMA material, ensuring proper documentation and return flow to the manufacturing partner.
  • Ensure consistent communication and alignment across all pod resources and stakeholders.

Must Haves (Mapped to Experience)

  • 5+ years experience in Quality Engineering or quality-focused leadership within manufacturing, deployment, or field installation environments.
  • 3+ years experience working with CAPA processes, defect trending, and structured inspection methodologies.
  • 2+ years experience leading or coordinating technician teams (direct or indirect).
  • Proven background coordinating rework and repair workflows from identification through closure.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills, including daily written and verbal reporting.
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Willingness to be hands-on with inspection and rework when necessary.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and organizational skills.

Plusses (Mapped to Experience)

  • 1+ year experience supporting commissioning or validation activities.
  • Exposure to automation, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
  • Formal quality training or certifications (ASQ CQE, Lean/Six Sigma) with 2+ years practical application.
  • Experience supporting high-volume production or large-scale deployment environments.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
