Goodwill Columbus – Work & Community Services

 

Pay: Starting at $26.00 per hour
Schedule: Daytime hours M-F, weekends or evening on occasion.

As a Medical Assistant within our Work & Community Services team, you'll support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they build independence, confidence, meaningful relationships, and community connections. You'll play an important role in promoting health, safety, dignity, and quality of life every day.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Administer medications and approved health-related activities according to Ohio DODD certification requirements, nursing delegation, and agency policy.
  • Monitor the health and well-being of individuals served and communicate concerns to the Registered Nurse and support team.
  • Maintain accurate medication, health, and service documentation.
  • Support individuals with personal care, mobility, daily living activities, and community participation.
  • Partner with nurses, direct support professionals, family members, guardians, and community providers to coordinate services and follow-up care.
  • Use person-centered approaches that encourage independence, confidence, skill development, and community engagement.
  • Help maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for individuals served.

Qualifications

Required

  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
  • Current Medication Administration certification(s) or ability to obtain and maintain required certifications
  • Valid Ohio driver's license
  • Ability to complete and maintain required training and certifications
  • Ability to accurately document services and health-related information

Preferred

  • Associate degree in a developmental disabilities-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Experience with person-centered planning, behavior supports, healthcare support, or community-based services
