Job description

As a Project Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting our construction operations by managing project‐level financial activities from start to finish. You will work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate and timely billing, maintain well‐organized and compliant financial documentation, and actively support budget tracking and cost control throughout each project's lifecycle. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with the flexibility to work from home up to 2 days per week, while the remaining days are based in the office. Key Responsibilities Billing & Revenue Management: Prepare and submit accurate and timely owner and subcontractor billings in accordance with contract terms. Review schedules of values, change orders, and supporting documentation to ensure complete, compliant, and properly supported billings. Project Documentation & Compliance: Track, collect, and maintain lien waivers, releases, insurance certificates, and other required project documentation to support contractual, legal, and internal compliance requirements. Budget Monitoring & Cost Control: Monitor project budgets, job cost reports, and cost‐to‐complete forecasts in collaboration with project managers and operations teams. Identify cost trends, potential risks, and budget variances. Monthly Job Cost Review & Analysis: Assist with monthly job cost reviews and variance analysis, supporting accurate financial reporting and project performance evaluation. Invoice Processing & Cost Coding: Process and review subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, and correct cost coding in accordance with project budgets and accounting standards. Project Accounting & ERP Management: Maintain complete and accurate project accounting records within the company's ERP / accounting system, ensuring data integrity and timely updates. Project Closeout & Final Accounting: Support project closeout activities, including final billings, cost reconciliation, and completion of required closeout documentation. Internal Coordination & Policy Compliance: Coordinate with internal accounting staff to ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and internal controls. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 1–3 years of accounting experience required, preferably in a construction or project‐based environment. Working knowledge of construction accounting concepts, including job costing, progress billings, change orders, and retainage preferred. Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, with the ability to analyze and organize financial data efficiently. Strong attention to detail with well‐developed organizational and time‐management skills. Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with project managers, operations teams, and accounting staff. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast‐paced project environment. Preferred Experience Prior experience in the construction industry or a project‐driven organization.
