Job Description

The Chemical Operator plays a key role in supporting chemical manufacturing operations within a controlled cleanroom environment. This position works closely with compounders to prepare and process batches, ensuring materials, equipment, and finished products meet regulatory, quality, and cleanliness standards. The role involves handling raw materials, compounding chemicals once trained, labeling and inspecting containers, and maintaining a clean, orderly work area in a non-hazardous chemical facility.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with compounders to gather and verify the availability of raw materials and equipment required for each batch.
  • Compound chemicals independently once training and qualifications are completed, following established procedures.
  • Perform all work in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements, departmental work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Transfer completed product into bins, drums, or pails as required, ensuring accurate handling and documentation.
  • Ensure all raw materials and finished goods are properly labeled and identified according to company standards.
  • Inspect bins for appearance and cleanliness, and clean any soiled or returned bins to maintain quality and hygiene standards.
  • Read work orders or receive verbal instructions to determine work assignments, material needs, and equipment requirements.
  • Use tools such as scan guns, microscopes, and inspection equipment to support production and quality control activities.
  • Cross-train other associates as assigned, sharing knowledge of processes, equipment, and cleanroom best practices.
  • Maintain equipment, work areas, and the plant in a clean, orderly manner to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production, cleaning, inspection, and overall manufacturing activities.

Essential Skills

  • Experience working in a cleanroom, manufacturing, or production environment.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and effectively.
  • Basic math skills, including weighing, converting, dividing, and adding measurements.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory compliance in a production setting.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail for labeling, inspection, and cleanliness of materials and equipment.
  • Capability to use inspection tools such as microscopes and scan guns.
  • Comfort working with medical or medical device-related processes and standards.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with compounders and other team members in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or batching processes.
  • Knowledge of production and inspection workflows in a GMP environment.
  • Ability to cross-train and support the development of other associates.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage materials, equipment, and documentation in a cleanroom setting.
  • Willingness to learn compounding processes and expand technical skills over time.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
