Job description

Overview

History of the Company: Superior Ambulance Service started in 1959 with one ambulance and today is the largest independent, locally owned, and operated emergency medical services provider in the Midwest. Superior employs more than 3,500 licensed EMT, Paramedics and Nurses, operating a fleet of more than 800 ambulances throughout Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin with over 55 locations. Superior also provides Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed wing emergency medical transportation. EMTs and Paramedics provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. Superior provides the highest quality care in emergencies and scheduled medical transports.


Responsibilities
  • Answer, screen, and direct calls for entire company
  • Distinguish the need for emergency transportation
  • Pre-arrange transport for facilities while determining the level of care needed for the patients
  • Arrange specialty and critical care transportation
  • Provide information and assistance for customer service inquires as needed
  • Communicate with multiple departments and EMS personal
  • Provide supportive information to customers to assist them in arranging appropriate transport
  • Develop effective solutions for customer service issues
  • Direct calls to Flight desk as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • EMD license

  • Physical Demands:

    • While performing the duties of the position, the employee is required to sit for long periods of time.

    • Employee will be required to listen to radio traffic/PTT, communicate over the phone as well as monitor and respond to all chat messages, and ability to type is required.

    • Employee should be able to work under stressful conditions.

  • Work Environment:

    • While performing the duties of the job, the employee has verbal contact with others and constantly works face to face with and around others and constantly works face to face with and around others.

    • Consistently uses office equipment such as computer, radios, printers, fax machine, etc.
