Job description

Vehicle Dynamics Test Engineer

**ONSITE in East Liberty, Ohio

What You Will Do:

  • Act as the lead for vehicle dynamics objective test campaigns, overseeing everything from initial test planning to final data sign-off
  • Lead the selection, installation, and calibration of complex test equipment (IMUs, wheel force transducers, string pots, GPS/RTK) and ensure high-fidelity data capture
  • Conduct rigorous objective test procedures alongside targeted subjective evaluations
  • Process large datasets to validate performance against targets, perform root-cause analysis for edge-case behaviors, and correlate physical data with simulation results
  • Manage test readiness reviews (TRR), vehicle ballast/setup coordination, and proving ground logistics to ensure efficient track time utilization

Desired Relevant Experience

  • Vehicle dynamics experience, including both objective and subjective evalutions
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle instrumentation, data acquisition and objective test execution
  • Experience in test preparation, analysis, and reporting
  • Familiarity with prototype or pre-production vehicle testing

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
  • Hands-on physical testing experience (proving grounds, Formula SAE, or professional motorsports)
  • Strong first-principles command of vehicle dynamics (e.g. ride, handling, load transfer, kinematics, and frequency response)
  • Proficiency with vehicle dynamics test equipment (e.g., Dewesoft, VBox, Campbell Scientific, or MoTeC)
  • Proven ability to distill complex multichannel data into concise executive summaries for cross-functional stakeholders

Bonus Qualifications

  • Master's in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on multibody dynamics or control theory
  • Strong proficiency in Python or MATLAB for automating data processing pipelines
  • Experience in vehicle dynamics CAE development tools such as MSC Adams, CarMaker and Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience with autonomous vehicle platforms and the unique dynamics of drive-by-wire systems

Salary Range: $75,000-$90,000/K
