Major, Lindsey & Africa’s Interim Legal Talent group is seeking a self-driven Employment Attorney for a global nonprofit organization.
Overview: Our client, a globally recognized nonprofit organization, is seeking an Employment Attorney to support its Office of the General Counsel with a focus on employment law and HR engagement. This role will report to the Associate General Counsel, Global Employment, and will serve as a key operational partner supporting a high-volume, global employment law function.
The attorney will provide first-level legal support across a broad range of recurring employment matters, including employee relations, compliance, and global workforce issues across multiple jurisdictions. This individual will operate in a highly hands-on capacity, owning established workstreams while exercising sound judgment and partnering with senior counsel on complex or sensitive issues.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of employment law experience required; preference for candidates with multinational experience in both law firm and in-house environments, demonstrated litigation experience in employment matters
Location: Ohio preferred (hybrid), remote candidates with exceptional experience also considered
Responsibilities Include:
Employee Relations & HR Counseling
- Provide day-to-day legal support to HR business partners on performance management, policy interpretation, PIPs, progressive discipline, and routine separations
- Advise on leave and accommodation matters (including ADA, FMLA, and state equivalents)
- Assess standard-risk matters and escalate higher-risk or sensitive issues appropriately
- Support employee benefits-related inquiries and coordinate immigration-adjacent matters
Compliance, Policy & Legislative Tracking
- Monitor employment law developments and maintain legislative tracking tools
- Support updates to policies, templates, and employee-facing communications
- Assist in maintaining compliance frameworks across jurisdictions
Global Employment Support
- Maintain and update employment templates (offer letters, agreements, etc.) across jurisdictions
- Ensure consistency with local counsel guidance across a global footprint (8+ countries)
- Support global benefits tracking and respond to routine international employment questions
- Assist with workforce risk assessment and mitigation initiatives
Litigation & Outside Counsel Support
- Assist with employment-related litigation, including litigation holds, document collection, and matter management
- Coordinate routine communications with outside counsel
Labor Relations
- Support grievance processing and responses to information requests
- Assist with interpretation of collective bargaining agreements, as applicable
Process, Systems & Legal Operations
- Provide legal input related to HR systems and tools (e.g., Workday)
- Support implementation of legal matter management systems and related processes
- Contribute to development and optimization of employment law workflows, trackers, and playbooks
Qualifications Include:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 5–8 years of employment law experience, preferably with a mix of law firm and in-house exposure
- Required: hands-on litigation experience within the employment law context
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment laws (Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, WARN, NLRA, COBRA, ERISA)
- Experience supporting multi-jurisdictional or global employment matters preferred
- Exposure to labor relations, including grievance handling and CBA interpretation, a plus
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of matters with strong attention to detail and deadlines
- Strong drafting skills across employment documents, policies, and templates
- Familiarity with litigation support processes, including document collection and litigation holds
- Experience with HRIS and legal tools (Workday preferred; exposure to matter management platforms such as LawVu a plus)
- Strong organizational and stakeholder management skills, including cross-border coordination
- Comfort operating within an escalation framework while exercising independent judgment
Pay rate: $68
