Position Overview

Job Description Summary
The Senior Software Engineer is accountable for designing and developing scalable, reliable, information technology enabled business solutions. This role involves executing all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle including analysis, design, development, and testing within a highly collaborative team environment. The Senior Software Engineer is enthusiastic about leveraging the latest technologies to modernize and enhance systems, delivering efficient, high-quality software solutions through AI-driven modern programming practices.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop software solutions by analyzing business requirements; collaborating with stakeholders and end users; evaluating system workflows, data usage, and operational processes; identifying and resolving problem areas; and executing all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle.

  • Implement solutions applying robust architectural patterns, coding standards, and AI-supported engineering approaches.

  • Apply advanced performance tuning and optimization techniques to enhance application efficiency, scalability, and responsiveness across diverse system architectures.

  • Document and demonstrate solutions through well-structured technical documentation, diagrams, flowcharts, and code comments, ensuring clear, maintainable, and readable code.

  • Engage actively in design reviews and code reviews.

  • Assist with CI/CD processes for deployment procedures.

  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve code quality, productivity, and development efficiency.

  • Mentor development team members to help them succeed in their assignments.

  • Update job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities.

  • Protect operations by improving security and by keeping information confidential.

  • Accomplish Zelis' mission by completing related results as needed.

  • Support and develop Zelis and the technology team by providing advice, coaching and educational opportunities.

  • Follow established HIPAA, Compliance & Security policies.

What You'll Bring to Zelis:

  • 5+ years of experience in software development.

  • Must have experience in ASP.NET Core, ASP.NET Web API, EF Core with LINQ, C#, T-SQL/Stored Procedure.

  • Experience with the following technology:

    • JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Vue, Angular) using MVVM/MVC design patterns.

    • Blazor or React and Bootstrap for UI development.

  • Experience in developing scalable and secure REST APIs.

  • Experience with source control tools, with a strong preference for Git.

  • Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and fundamental design principles.

  • Experience in developing comprehensive unit test coverage using frameworks such as xUnit, NUnit, etc. to ensure code quality and reliability.

  • Cloud experience with Azure or AWS resources preferred

  • Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g GitHub CoPilot,) for code generation, refactoring, testing, and documentation and adopting an AI-first approach.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Location and Workplace Flexibility

Zelis is headquartered in the U.S., with multiple locations across the country and in Hyderabad, India. Check out our locations to learn more about our offices. All employee work locations are based on the needs of the position and are determined by the Leadership team. In-office work and activities vary based on work and team objectives in accordance with Company policies.


While location expectations vary by role, candidates within approximately 50 miles of a U.S. office are generally preferred to support collaboration when needed. Our hybrid approach is flexible, and in-office presence is guided by team and business needs rather than a fixed weekly schedule.
