Job description

Job Title: Director of Learning & Development

Location: Denton, TX | Future Location: Lewisville, TX

CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking a Director of Learning & Development for an exciting direct-hire opportunity with a fast-growing North Texas manufacturing and technology organization.

This isn't an opportunity to inherit someone else's training program. It's an opportunity to build the university yourself.

The Director of Learning & Development will have the unique opportunity to build an internal technology and engineering university from the ground up, including a dedicated technical training lab, curriculum, classroom instruction, assessments, and employee development programs. This highly visible role is ideal for an L&D leader who enjoys getting close to the technology-learning directly from engineers, technicians, and subject-matter experts and transforming complex technical knowledge into engaging, scalable training.

The company is currently located in Denton and is preparing to move into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Lewisville designed around technology, innovation, collaboration, and an exceptional employee experience. The new campus will feature amenities including a gym with an on-site trainer, running trails, chef-prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner, pickleball, nap pods, on-site car detailing, and on-site dry cleaning.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead the company's internal technology and engineering university from the ground up.
  • Help develop and utilize a dedicated technical training lab and classroom environment.
  • Assess training and skill-development needs across engineering, manufacturing, technical, and professional teams.
  • Work directly with engineers, technicians, and subject-matter experts to understand how technical jobs, equipment, and processes are performed.
  • Translate complex engineering and technical knowledge into clear, practical, and scalable curriculum.
  • Develop technical documentation, classroom materials, assessments, learning paths, and training resources.
  • Personally deliver engaging instructor-led and classroom training for engineers, technicians, and other employees.
  • Develop training around engineering and technical skills, processes, efficiencies, best practices, and standardized ways of working.
  • Establish methods for tracking employee training, competency, completion, and overall program effectiveness.
  • Develop and deliver selected leadership and soft-skills training.
  • Incorporate the organization's process-driven operating approach into training where appropriate.
  • Continuously improve curriculum as technology, processes, and business needs evolve.

Requirements:

  • Learning & Development, technical training, instructional design, or related experience within an engineering, manufacturing, industrial, or similarly technical environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and delivering training for engineers, technicians, or other technical audiences.
  • Strong technical writing and curriculum-development skills.
  • Ability to observe unfamiliar technical work, understand how it is performed, and translate that knowledge into effective training.
  • Strong classroom facilitation and instructor-led training experience.
  • Engaging and concise communication style with the ability to hold the attention of highly technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with engineers and subject-matter experts and convert their expertise into scalable learning programs.
  • Experience developing assessments and measuring training effectiveness.
  • Ability to develop both technical and selected soft-skills content.
  • Builder mentality with demonstrated experience creating programs-not simply administering established training.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Employment Type: Direct Hire
  • Schedule: Full-Time
  • Location: On-site in Denton, TX, transitioning to the new Lewisville, TX facility
  • Salary: Competitive and based on experience
  • Bonus: Up to 40% annual bonus opportunity - 30% based on company performance and 10% based on individual performance
  • Workplace Amenities at New Lewisville Facility: Gym with on-site trainer, running trails, chef-prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner, pickleball, nap pods, on-site car detailing, and on-site dry cleaning
  • Benefits: Competitive benefits package

If you've ever looked at an established corporate training program and thought, "I know how I would build this better if I could start from the beginning," this is that opportunity.

This is a chance to put your fingerprints on something lasting-building the curriculum, technical learning environment, and development programs that will help shape the next generation of engineers, technicians, and technical professionals within a growing organization.

Come build the university.

If you are an experienced Learning & Development professional who combines technical credibility, curriculum development expertise, and exceptional classroom presence, we invite you to apply today. Send your resume to Allison Harrison at or call 817-635-0500 ext. 162 for immediate consideration.
