We are seeking an Operational Development Manager, where you will be the Operational representative with Global Marketing, autonomously overseeing the launch of new products, based in our Clark, New Jersey Operations Hub for the US. As a Manager in Operations Development, you will be at the heart of our Consumer Products Division, managing a diverse portfolio of projects from concept to launch. This role manage package development and project management activities to assure timely and cost effective new product launches, promotions, and maintenance of basic business activities. There will be active participation in identifying new and improved processes that will result in effective cost reduction / harmonization programs for new or existing products. Finally, in assigned project category lead package innovation.
A Day in the Life:
  • Packaging Research & Development
    • Collaborate with EU counterparts on researching and developing new packaging components.
    • Direct the testing and evaluation processes for packaging components.
    • Coordinate overall research and development activities for projects.
  • Project Management & Execution
    • Prepare and track project development timelines.
    • Manage projects comprehensively through all aspects of the Quality Control Process (QCP).
    • Coordinate meetings, maintain minutes, and ensure follow-ups are completed.
    • Manage various project tasks as needed or required to ensure successful completion.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
    • Serve as the primary communication link between Divisional and Industrial teams.
    • Interface directly with manufacturing management and other related functional areas.
    • Facilitate aesthetic and color approvals with Marketing.
    • Provide value analysis support to both plant operations and the project team.
    • Offer development support to team members on project launches, particularly concerning feasibility and aesthetic choices for timely, cost-effective outcomes.
  • Strategic & Analytical Input
    • Guide Marketing in the creation of new product briefs.
    • Influence product conception, emphasizing consumer centricity and L'Oréal's sustainability objectives.
    • Conduct and coordinate feasibility cost analysis, Cost of Goods (COG) analysis.
    • Coordinate and communicate risk analyses.

We Are Looking For:
  • Education: A completed Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related engineering/technical discipline is required
  • Experience:
    • 5-7+ years of experience in project management for launching of global products, including working cross-functionally with Operations teams such as Manufacturing, Sourcing, Packaging, as well as Brand Marketing and Sustainability is required
    • Experience in cosmetics, consumer goods, or related field is preferred
  • Travel to vendors and plants will be a requirement (10-15% of time)
  • Proficient PC skills - MS Office software and capable of building executive presentations. Also Proficient in the use of MS Project.
  • Good communication skills, to be able to deal effectively with all levels of our organization and our suppliers.
  • Good organizational skills to manage the documentation, materials and information.
  • Assume Leadership role of Brand Development team and special projects as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a professional knowledge of new or emerging trends and technologies.
  • Authorization to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent, ongoing basis is required. No immigration support/sponsorship offered for this role.
  • The ability to be onsite, in the office 3 days a week, as this is an essential function of the position, including our NY and NJ sites (required)
