Specialist in Water Damage โ Advanced (Level 4) Location: Byron Center, MI
This is a senior-level, expert role for professionals who thrive in complex loss environments. As a Water Damage Specialist โ Advanced, you will serve as a local, regional, and national resource for Our Client, leading high-severity residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional drying and restoration projects.
You are the go-to authority for large-loss mitigation, advanced drying strategies, and technical problem-solvingโtrusted to design drying systems, lead multiple crews, and take ownership of significant production responsibilities, especially during CAT events.
This is Level 4, the highest tier in Our Clientโs Water Damage career path.
What Youโll DoTechnical & Production Leadership
Design and execute advanced drying strategies using heat, desiccant, and specialty systems
Delimit and scope large losses; calculate moisture loads, cubic volume, and drying objectives
Determine electrical demand, temporary power needs, and safe operation of converters (220/110)
Integrate HVAC systems to enhance drying effectiveness
Lead multiple teams simultaneously during CAT and large-loss events
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate daily project documentation, including photos, charts, sketches, and reports
Develop moisture maps, psychrometric records, and humidity content logs
Ensure compliance with all standards to safeguard client property and meet TPA requirements
Safety, Equipment & Professional Standards
Direct teams in proper PPE selection and usage
Conduct daily vehicle safety inspections and maintain clean, job-ready equipment
Track time, equipment usage, and consumables accurately and on time
Attend required operational meetings and safety training
Client Experience
Deliver exceptional customer service during high-stress loss situations
Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions clearly to leadership and stakeholders
Work efficiently under tight deadlines with professionalism and urgency
Core Responsibilities
Supervise and self-perform Water Damage Basic and Intermediate tasks
Manage large-loss sites and specialized remediation projects
Supervise multiple crews across multiple projects
Select appropriate disposal methods and secure releases of liability
Qualifications & Certifications
Strong working knowledge of IICRC S500 (Water Damage) and IICRC S520 (Mold Remediation)
Current IICRC ASD certification required
Demonstrated mastery of internal Water Damage standards and procedures
Expert use of moisture meters, IR cameras, and diagnostic tools
Advanced understanding of:
Air mover calculations
LGR dehumidification charts
Electrical power specifications and circuits
Psychrometry and thermodynamics
Proficiency with HydroSensor, Thermal Hygrometer, NavPro Moisture Meter (or equivalent)
Experience with CAT 3 losses, HVAC containment, and complex building environments
Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per company policy
Strong sense of urgency, professionalism, and work ethic
English literacy and fluency required
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting over 50 lbs
Occasional assisted lifting (41+ lbs, up to 50% of the time)
Ability to work in tight spaces
Sustained standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting
Ability to use mobile devices for time and data collection
