The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) continues to grow - and we're excited to add a Transportation Engineer to our Mansfield, OH team! This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level engineer to work on a diverse range of roadway and aviation projects while learning from experienced professionals and building a rewarding career in transportation engineering.

Over six months, you'll take part in a hands-on curriculum covering professional development, business acumen, and project delivery - including case studies, simulations, and role-play exercises - covering topics like project economics, communication, and leadership fundamentals. It all wraps up with an in-person capstone event where you'll present your work and map out your goals for the year ahead.

Key Responsibilities
What You'll Do
  • As a Transportation Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing, analyzing, and developing transportation infrastructure projects that improve how communities move and connect. You will:
  • Support senior engineers and project managers in preparing transportation design plans for state, municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential projects - all within a 3D digital environment.
  • Perform and review design calculations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Contribute to the development of design packages, including roadway geometry, drainage, grading, and plan preparation.
  • Assist with early project phases, including feasibility studies, permitting, and cost estimating.
  • Support aviation projects, contributing to runway and airfield design and analysis.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
  • Experience working with OpenRoads Designer
  • Familiarity with ODOT Design Standards
  • A strong attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and eagerness to grow your technical and project management skills

The base salary range for this role is indicated in the posting. This range reflects the company's good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
