Tech Digital Group Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Financial Analyst, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Financial Analyst, you need strong analytical abilities, proficiency in financial modeling, and typically a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as Microsoft Excel, financial databases (like Bloomberg), and certifications such as CFA or CPA are often required. Attention to detail, effective communication, and problem-solving skills help analysts interpret data and present actionable insights. These abilities are crucial for making informed recommendations that drive sound financial decisions and business growth.

How does a Financial Analyst typically collaborate with other departments within a company?

Financial Analysts frequently work cross-functionally with teams such as accounting, operations, and marketing to gather data, analyze business performance, and support strategic planning. Regular collaboration ensures that financial models and forecasts are based on accurate, up-to-date information from across the organization. This teamwork is essential for preparing budgets, evaluating investment opportunities, and providing actionable insights to management. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are important for success in these collaborative efforts.

What does a Financial Analyst do?

A Financial Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and making recommendations to help businesses and individuals make informed investment decisions. They evaluate economic trends, study financial statements, and assess the performance of stocks, bonds, and other types of investments. Financial Analysts often work for banks, investment firms, insurance companies, or corporate finance departments, providing insights that support key financial strategies and planning.

Is 40 too late to start a career in finance?

Starting a career as a financial analyst at age 40 is possible, as many employers value skills, experience, and certifications like the CFA. Transitioning into finance may require additional training or education, but age is generally not a barrier if you demonstrate relevant knowledge and a strong work ethic.

Job description

Who We Are

Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.
To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures-and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.

What You'll Do

The North America Financial Planning and Analytics Team focuses on developing content expertise, critical business analytics, strategy development, and financial projections in partnership with senior leaders to drive key business decisions. As a Financial Analyst within the Analytics team, you'll work collaboratively across the broader FP&A team and with senior leadership in our North America business. You'll have frequent interactions with senior stakeholders including function heads, the Regional Chair, who heads BCG's North America business, and North America's CFO and COO.
This position will perform several critical responsibilities to support the business within our Analytics team, including:

  • Partnering with Global & Local Office colleagues to improve and drive adoption of latest digital management reporting tools
  • Developing and evolving regional reporting for leadership and other internal customers
Providing reporting insights into BCG's resource deployment strategy, client investment decisions and client portfolio quality
  • Providing technical support for critical reporting needs unique to North America processes
  • Creating reporting consistency across key commercial topics (client economics, staff deployment, practice area analysis, etc.)
  • Providing business updates and reporting on Key Performance indicators

The Analytics team sits at the intersection of business strategy and operations within North America; as firm needs change over time, projects and job responsibilities may change.
YOU'RE GOOD AT:

  • Developing collaborative working relationships with business partners across teams and levels
  • Balancing the needs of multiple stakeholder groups
  • Effectively communicating verbally and in writing
  • Navigating ambiguity, taking initiative, and prioritizing in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Applying strong analytical skills, judgement, attention to detail, and creativity to effectively solve problems
  • Performing under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Learning new topics and technical skills with a combination of intellectual curiosity, desire for professional growth, and receptiveness to feedback

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or Math
  • 0-2 years of finance-related experience
  • Flexibility to travel as needed
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint; SAP Business Objects, Microsoft Power Platform experience a plus
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g. Microsoft Copilot, Chat GPT, Claude, or similar) to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, or support data analysis; curiosity and eagerness to expand AI fluency in a professional setting a plus
  • Prior experience in a professional services environment a plus

Additional info

Strong internal candidate identified.

Format

At BCG, our people and relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We believe that in-person work is essential to our culture, mentorship, and professional development. That's why we operate on a hybrid model, with the expectation that team members will be in the office 3 to 5 days per week. This role is designed for those who thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment and is not intended for remote or virtual work.

Compensation

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, retirement contribution, and a market leading benefits package described below.

The base salary range for this role is $82,000-$100,000.

This is an estimated range and specific base salaries within the range depend on factors such as office location, experience, and skill set. It is not common for new BCG employees to be hired at the high-end of the salary range. BCG regularly reviews its ranges to ensure market competitiveness.

In addition to your base salary, your total compensation will include a discretionary bonus of up to 12% and a generous retirement contribution that starts at 5% and moves to 10% after 2 years.

At BCG, we are committed to offering a comprehensive benefit program that includes everything our employees and their families need to be well and live life to the fullest. We pay the full cost of medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees - and their eligible family members.* That's zero dollars in premiums taken from employee paychecks.
All of our plans provide best in class coverage:

  • Zero dollar ($0) health insurance premiums for BCG employees, spouses, and children
  • Low $10 (USD) copays for trips to the doctor, urgent care visits and prescriptions for generic drugs
  • Dental coverage, including up to $5,000 in orthodontia benefits
  • Vision insurance with coverage for both glasses and contact lenses annually
  • Reimbursement for gym memberships and other fitness activities
  • Fully vested retirement contributions made annually, whether you contribute or not, plus the option for employees to make personal contributions to a 401(k) plan
  • Paid Parental Leave and other family benefits such as elective egg freezing, surrogacy, and adoption reimbursement
  • Generous paid time off including 12 holidays per year, an annual office closure between Christmas and New Years, and 15 vacation days per year (earned at 1.25 days per month)
  • Paid sick time on an as needed basis

*Employees, spouses, and children are covered at no cost. Employees share in the cost of domestic partner coverage.
