Job description

Huron helps its clients drive growth, enhance performance and sustain leadership in the markets they serve. We help healthcare organizations build innovation capabilities and accelerate key growth initiatives, enabling organizations to own the future, instead of being disrupted by it. Together, we empower clients to create sustainable growth, optimize internal processes and deliver better consumer outcomes.
Health systems, hospitals and medical clinics are under immense pressure to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the cost of providing patient care. Investing in new partnerships, clinical services and technology is not enough to create meaningful and substantive change. To succeed long-term, healthcare organizations must empower leaders, clinicians, employees, affiliates and communities to build cultures that foster innovation to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
Joining the Huron team means you'll help our clients evolve and adapt to the rapidly changing healthcare environment and optimize existing business operations, improve clinical outcomes, create a more consumer-centric healthcare experience, and drive physician, patient and employee engagement across the enterprise.
Join our team as the expert you are now and create your future.
Huron is a global consultancy that collaborates with clients to drive strategic growth, ignite innovation and navigate constant change. Through a combination of strategy, expertise and creativity, we help clients accelerate operational, digital and cultural transformation, enabling the change they need to own their future.
Join Huron's HDTx Payer Services team and play a key role in helping health plans transform the way they operate, serve members, and meet evolving regulatory demands. As an Epic Tapestry Subject Matter Expert, you will bring deep payer and managed care expertise to high-impact client initiatives-helping organizations optimize Epic's Tapestry platform across enrollment and eligibility, benefits configuration, claims adjudication, utilization management and authorizations, provider contracting and networks, premium billing, accounts payable, CRM, and related workflows. This is an opportunity to apply your Epic Tapestry knowledge in a collaborative consulting environment where your expertise directly supports improved operational performance, compliance, and member outcomes for leading healthcare organizations.
In the role of an Epic Tapestry Subject Matter Expert, you will have the opportunity to be a trusted Epic Tapestry advisor at the center of meaningful payer transformation. You will support configuration, optimization, implementation, and troubleshooting efforts while partnering closely with business leaders, operations teams, and IT/Epic stakeholders to solve complex challenges and improve how healthcare organizations serve their members. Epic Tapestry professionals in this space play a critical role across health plans, provider-sponsored plans, pay-viders, large health systems with risk-bearing arrangements, and consulting firms-making this an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to apply their expertise where it can drive real operational and business impact.
Key Responsibilities
  • Configure, build, maintain, and optimize Epic Tapestry applications (e.g., Claims, Membership/Enrollment & Eligibility, Benefits Engine, Utilization Management/Service Authorizations, Contracts, CRM, AP, Premium Billing).
  • Analyze business/operational requirements and translate them into system design, workflows, and configuration decisions.
  • Lead or support design workshops, impact analysis for change requests, and recommendation of standardized/best-practice builds.
  • Perform unit, system, integrated, and user acceptance testing (UAT); create test scripts; triage and resolve defects.
  • Support go-lives, upgrades, enhancements, cutover, and hyper-care (including on-call as needed).
  • Troubleshoot complex issues related to claims adjudication, benefits, eligibility, authorizations, contracts, and integrations.
  • Document builds, decision rationale, workflows, processes, and maintain traceability (requirements → configuration → testing).
  • Collaborate with clinical, revenue cycle, enrollment, claims, provider contracting, compliance, and other Epic teams (e.g., Resolute, Bridges, Clarity/Cogito).
  • Serve as mentor/SME to analysts, end users, and project teams; provide training and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., HIPAA, ANSI X12 transactions), organizational policies, and change control standards.
  • Develop or support reports/analytics (Clarity, Reporting Workbench, Caboodle) and interfaces as needed.
  • Participate in project governance, status reporting, risk/issue tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
  • Current Epic Tapestry certification(s) in one or more areas (e.g., Claims, Membership/Enrollment & Eligibility, Utilization Management, Benefits Engine, Contracts Administration, CRM, Accounts Payable, Premium Billing). Multiple certifications preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Epic Tapestry experience (build, configuration, testing, support, and/or implementation), with stronger preference for 5+ years for senior/SME roles.
  • Solid understanding of managed care / health plan operations (claims processing, benefits, eligibility, authorizations/UM, provider networks/contracts).
  • Experience with full-cycle Epic implementations, optimizations, or upgrades.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • The ability to travel based on client, enterprise, or project needs is an essential function of this role. While travel requirements may vary based on business need, the current average travel in the Healthcare practice is less than 50%, annually.

The estimated base salary for this job is $130, 000 - $150, 000. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel. This job is also eligible to participate in Huron's annual incentive compensation program, which reflects Huron's pay for performance philosophy. Inclusive of annual incentive compensation opportunity, the total estimated compensation range for this job is $156, 000 - $180, 000. The job is also eligible to participate in Huron's benefit plans which include medical, dental and vision coverage and other wellness programs.
