Descriptions:
This position manages 5-10 concurrent projects, coordinating internal stakeholders, engineering, maintenance, construction, contractors, and vendors while ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk management requirements.
Manage full lifecycle ("cradle to grave") execution of facilities, construction, and capital improvement projects.
Develop and maintain scopes of work, schedules, budgets, long term project plans, and funding requests.
Lead project controls activities including cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, documentation, and reporting.
Interface daily with plant stakeholders: engineering, maintenance, operations, supply chain, controls, finance, and leadership.
Source, contract, manage, and coordinate suppliers and external contractors.
Prepare and deliver project presentations to leadership, including authorization and funding approvals.
Conduct field walkdowns and plant observations for risk mitigation, constructability, and issue resolution.
Support risk management, quality assurance, safety compliance, and nuclear regulatory expectations.
Primarily onsite at the assigned nuclear facility (Prairie Island or Monticello).
Typical hours: 40 hrs/week, standard business hours. Outage periods require 60 hrs/week, often 12 hour days, 6-7 days/week.
Occasional remote work may be approved by the hiring manager.
Rare travel for vendor visits, factory acceptance testing, or RFP activities (reimbursed).
Qualifications
5-7 years of facilities, construction, utility, power plant, or commercial nuclear power project management experience.
Demonstrated success managing projects ≥ $1M.
Strong financial acumen and experience with project controls and variance analysis.
Familiarity with PMI/PMBOK (Waterfall/Predictive) methodologies.
Construction or Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Nuclear) from an ABET accredited program.
Commercial nuclear or utility/power plant experience.
Experience with SAP, Oracle Unifier, Workday/UKG, MS Project, or Primavera P6.
PMP certification strongly preferred (not required).
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Collaborative mindset within a highly supportive, cross functional team environment.
Problem solving, risk awareness, and disciplined follow through essential for nuclear work.
Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple active projects.

Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
