    Job description

    Title: Electrical Maintenance Technician
    Location: Hammond, IN 46323
    Schedule:
    • 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
    • 2nd Shift (2:00 PM – 10:00 PM)
    Pay: $29.00–$36.00/hour (Depending on Experience)
    Hire Type: Direct Hire

    Sterling Engineering is partnering with a growing manufacturing company in Hammond, IN to hire Electrical Maintenance Technician. This is a hands-on maintenance role supporting production equipment through troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    Responsibilities:
    • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical production equipment
    • Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled equipment and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
    • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime
    • Install, align, and maintain motors, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic systems, HVAC equipment, and other plant machinery
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
    • Maintain instrumentation and calibration equipment
    • Complete maintenance work orders and documentation accurately
    • Support equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
    • Fabricate or modify machine components using basic welding and fabrication techniques
    • Maintain a safe, clean work environment while following company safety procedures

    Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Technical degree, certificate, or equivalent industrial maintenance experience preferred
    • Experience troubleshooting both electrical and mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong PLC troubleshooting experience
    • Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
    • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
    • Basic computer skills for maintenance reporting
    • Willingness to work scheduled and emergency overtime as needed

    Preferred Skills:
    • Industrial electrical maintenance experience
    • Preventive maintenance experience
    • Vocational or technical training in electrical maintenance
    • Experience supporting manufacturing equipment and production operations
