Job description

CONCORD ENGINEERING GROUP, INC. has an immediate need for an experienced Engineering Project Manager to join us in providing industry-leading design and consulting services to our clients. Concord Engineering is a full-service engineering, energy commodity consulting, construction management and commissioning firm. For this position, we are looking for a Project Manager with either mechanical or electrical design engineering experience in any of the following areas:

  • Power engineering – distributed generation, micro-grid design solutions, substations, utility scale power, CUP, CHP
  • Commercial engineering – gaming, senior living, K-12 schools, high rises
  • Health & Science – healthcare and life sciences facility engineering services, clinical care MEP services, power plant engineering services for hospitals, labs, etc.

The qualified and motivated successful candidate in this position will have the opportunity to advance to Director level position which includes bonus/profit sharing compensation.

POSITION SUMMARY

As the Engineering Project Manager, you will serve as the technical lead for design execution of projects. You will oversee all project design activities and serve as the primary point of contact for the client on the project. You will also be responsible for the design quality, delivery of contracted scope, and meeting project objectives, requirements, schedules, and budget. The position also requires the candidate to design electrical or mechanical systems, develop equipment and systems specifications, assist with proposals, engage with clients, and project execution partners and most importantly, work independently.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Serve as Project Manager for large projects.
  • Supervise and manage assigned engineers on each project, providing technical guidance, training and support for junior engineers.
  • Conduct peer review, technical oversight and quality control of design team’s work products.
  • Provide hands-on engineering project management by consistently reviewing project plans and timelines to ensure projects are on time and on budget. Adjust staffing and resources as needed to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Organize and facilitate internal and external client meetings ensuring that all action items are documented and completed.
  • Provide project coordination with all involved in the project; internal, external, sub-contractors, etc.
  • Work with the VP of group to respond to client issued RFPs. Collaborates with group VP to develop and write bid proposals, contracts, cost estimates, budgets, etc. using the agreed upon Concord methods and standards.
  • Establish and maintain excellent client relationship with the goal of maintaining existing clients and receiving referrals for new clients.
  • Ensure accurate project accounting, ensuring that project setup, monthly invoicing and accounts receivables are done on a timely basis and in compliance with accounting protocols.
  • Participate in trade conferences, business development activities and promotion of Concord Engineering Group commercial and marketing activities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • BS in Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years professional experience with proven progression in either mechanical or electrical engineering design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in either power, commercial and/or healthcare life sciences engineering.
  • Must be knowledgeable of local, state and national code requirements.
  • Must have working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, civil and architectural discipline requirements.
  • Experience and knowledge in energy efficiency improvement techniques.
  • Knowledge and experience with construction requirements, scheduling, trades and OSHA regulations.
  • Extensive experience in managing and coordinating multidiscipline projects.
  • Strong working knowledge and utilization of Autocad and Revit
  • Must be a good time manager, comfortable with frequent deadlines and transitions.
  • Effective at working with other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to effectively communicate complex ideas and have strong technical writing skills and technical documentation skills with the ability to prepare presentations and reports.
  • Able to read, write, speak and understand English

LOCATION:

While our Company headquarters are in Voorhees, NJ, this position can work out of our NYC and/or Linwood, NJ office. This position can also be hybrid or remote.

COMPENSATION:

The salary range for this position starts at $125,000 - $150,000 with actual salary based on experience. This position will also offer a sign on bonus.
