Job description

Salary: Starting pay up to $35 per hour

Pella is the leader in quality wood window and doors and has been in the St. Louis area for over 50 years. We are seeking an individual to join our team as an Installer.

The ideal candidate will have experience in various carpentry tasks and possess a strong work ethic.

Installers are responsible for job-site installation of Pella windows and doors. Additionally, as required, the Installer may assist with Pella and non-Pella window and door chargeable services, corporate in-house construction projects, and other operational duties as needed. May also install or assist with appropriate commercial project installations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Complete window and door installations in accordance with Company policies and procedures
  • Perform quality rough framing, finish carpentry, interior trim, base, casing and crown molding work
  • Assist in glass replacement and repairs
  • Assist in field training of additional installers
  • Assist in recommendations for improving install efficiencies
  • Identify and repair service related issues
  • Initiate and maintain safe work practices
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Protect, repair, and maintain property of the Company, the contractor or the customer at all times

Apprentice Installer: Entry level Apprentice starting rate during the 90 day probation period, $20-$24/hour (This would be for a current Trade school student or recent graduate with less than 2 years of experience in the field, demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of framing with basic construction knowledge and skill set utilizing appropriate power / hand tools in the field)

Installer: Skilled Carpenter with minimum of 2 years of frame carpentry, demonstrated ability and knowledge of window and door installation and removal, interior trim, base, casing and crown molding installation & carpentry, glass replacement and repairs $25-$30/hour

Sr. Installer: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an installer, custom high end residential projects, experience with all phases of carpentry, ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, building specifications, ability to work independently with experience assisting / training / overseeing crew members $31-$34/hour

Lead Installer: Minimum of 7 years of experience, managing and overseeing multiple construction projects concurrently to completion, manage/recruits and monitor in house installer crew, prior experience in home remodeling projects, estimating and project management. $35-$40/hour

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interface with our customer on a daily basis, sometimes in difficult circumstances; must meet these demands successfully and with the companys mission in-mind delivering the Pella Customer experience.
  • Move and protect a customers personal property when installing or removing existing windows and doors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Training

  • Acute knowledge of proper use and function of carpentry bench and hand-type tools, general knowledge of carpentry, extensive experience with measuring and cutting - required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, building specifications
  • Two years construction-related experience - required.
  • High School diploma (or equivalent) - required.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals - required.
  • Able to apply basic concepts of geometry and algebra, and be able to calculate percentages and geometric sums.
  • Must possess, or be willing to be tested for, a Missouri Class E drivers license.

Physical Demands

  • Must be well-suited for all field environments.
  • Must be able to work overhead, work atop ladders and scaffolding as necessary.
  • Must be able to work beyond the traditional 40-hour work week, when necessary.
  • Must successfully hear, see and speak clearly, with or without aids or prosthetics.
  • Standing, walking, driving, holding, lifting and carrying (loads to 125 pounds) are demands associated with this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to help an employee comply with such demands.

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Willingness to travel and work in any weather conditions.
  • Willingness to care for and maintain customers private property while on-site.
