SUMMARY PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for leading and developing a team of engineering professionals in complex and multi-disciplined engineering projects from concept through execution. Coordinates and assigns engineering work across functions within the scope of assigned projects to ensure objectives in terms of quality, cost, and time are met. Follows the structure of the Pella Project Management, Continuous Improvement, Safety and Quality Systems from concept through project execution. Develops engineering budgets for assigned department, prepares engineering documents including cost estimates, appropriation requests, projects schedules, design specifications, instruction specifications, purchase requisitions, and operating manuals. Assures that contracts are awarded to the outside vendors that offer the best value and appropriate quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SCOPE:
Works collaboratively in a team environment with minimal supervision. Significantly influences senior leadership in strategic decision making and policy.
SUPERVISING OTHERS:
Focuses on coaching, developing, and leveraging the talents of others. Supervises exempt and non-exempt employees up to and including Senior Engineer (generally over 25% of time).
APPLICATION OF KNOWLEDGE:
Develops and evaluates plans for multiple projects and activities to be carried out by the team. Plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phases of a project or process change. Assesses the feasibility of proposed plans with limited data to drive projects forward when required. Carries out and supervises assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. Work results in the development of improved equipment, materials, processes, products.
JUDGMENT:
Plans and coordinates work of self and others requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation of advanced techniques and processes. Knowledge and judgment have a direct effect on team effectiveness. Devises and directs new approaches to problems encountered.
Responsibilities
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: FACILITIES Engineering Team Leader
Responsibilities: Manage and lead the design and construction of new and existing facilities and major facilities improvements. Facilities improvements include buildings, electrical systems, HVAC systems, water and sewer, fire protection systems, security systems, grounds, roads, parking and other building improvements. Lead the design and construction of major manufacturing infrastructure systems. Major manufacturing infrastructure systems include compressed air, sawdust collection, electrical distribution and other systems. Lead Plant Services team to support maintenance and repair of existing building/manufacturing infrastructure systems and troubleshoot key manufacturing equipment to support manufacturing plans and initiatives. Lead or have significant involvement in strategic initiatives and projects such as corporate or divisional expansions, site selection, building conservation and capacity planning. Lead office capacity plan and workstation procurement and installation to provide functional work areas across company. Implement energy conservation and other projects to support sustainability initiatives. Provides functional expertise related to mechanical, electrical, and compressed air systems, building construction and renovation, and risk management/building conservation.

Travel expectations: Moderate
Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications
Technical / functional skills: Apply building management infrastructure and construction knowledge; Pella project management and prioritization; influence product and process design by applying sustainability principles.
Safety: Periodically exposed to machinery where safe operating procedures must be followed, work environment may be noisy.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE:
7+ years combined engineering experience within 2-3 disciplines (Process, Product, CI, Quality, Plant). Multi-divisional and multi-site experience recommended. Desire and skill set to pursue management path.
EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Math, or relevant Science or combination of education and experience. Masters Degree preferred in Engineering, Math, relevant Science or Business Administration.
