Job description


The broad job responsibilities include the hands-on work in the design of high speed integrated photonic components, implementing the designs through the fab and testing the resulting circuits to verify performance. Experience in several of the key areas listed below is required.

Responsibilities
  • A strong understanding of optical components design, epitaxy, fabrication and component/system level tests.
  • Familiar with complicated photonic integrated circuit layout methodology and EAD tools
  • Strong background with semiconductor optical devices such as lasers, detectors, modulators and other integrated waveguide devices.
  • Use of optical and electronic modeling and simulation to design electro-optical devices, and lithographic mask specification, design and pattern generation.
  • Fundamental understanding of optical communication systems, DWDM transmission systems, photonic integrated components, electronic (integrated) circuits, and signal analysis and processing.
  • Ability to work with a large body of data and the necessary statistical analysis tools, and the ability to present the data and ideas to a diverse audience.

Qualifications
Ph.D in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a related discipline with emphasis in optical communications and optical components, or M.S./M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering or Photonics, with 0-5 years of relevant experience.
