SUMMARYNetwork Engineer, IT for Nintendo Technology Development Inc. (NTD) organization who will be responsible for designing, configuring, and operating enterprise network and security infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise with Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco switching, VLANs, BGP, IPsec tunnels, and VPN technologies, along with experience using Ansible for network automation and configuration management. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, scalability, and performance of the organization's network infrastructure while collaborating closely with security, systems, and cloud teams. This role requires partnership with NTD IT Operations, and the IT Network and IT Security teams at Nintendo Co., Ltd. (NCL) and Nintendo of America Inc. (NOA) to deliver reliable, compliant, and auditable services with measurable outcomes.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
• Configure, manage, and maintain Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including security policies, NAT, routing, VPNs, and threat prevention features.
• Design, deploy, and support LAN/WAN environments using Cisco switches, including VLANs, trunking, and Layer 2/Layer 3 configurations.
• Implement and troubleshoot routing protocols, with a focus on BGP in enterprise or ISP-connected environments.
• Configure, monitor, and maintain IPsec tunnels, site-to-site VPNs, and remote access VPN solutions.
• Build automation for network configuration, device provisioning, and compliance validation.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues across multiple layers using packet captures, logs, and monitoring tools.
• Participate in network architecture design, upgrades, and lifecycle management initiatives.
• Ensure network security best practices, availability, and performance standards are met.
• Create and maintain detailed network documentation, diagrams, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support application, cloud, and security initiatives.
• Up to 10% travel; domestic and international.
SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
• 5+ years in enterprise IT Network engineering.
• Excellent understanding of networking topologies and protocols - TCP/IPv4/IPv6, DNS, NAT, routing, EIGRP, BGP and network security principles.
• Excellent knowledge of wireless technologies 802.11a/b/g/n.
• Strong experience with Cisco switching (IOS / NX-OS), including VLANs and inter-VLAN routing.
• Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls (PAN-OS configuration and management).
• Experience implementing and supporting IPsec VPN tunnels and VPN connectivity.
• Experience using Ansible for network automation or infrastructure-as-code initiatives.
• Experience supporting hybrid or cloud-connected networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Ability to work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network and connectivity issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience mentoring others and cultivating technical breadth and depth on a team.
• Familiarity with high availability, redundancy, and failover designs.
• Fluency in Japanese a plus.
• Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Certifications a plus: CCNA, CCNP, PCNSE, or equivalent.
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be considered. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
This position is onsite in Redmond, WA, and not open to remote status at this time.
This position includes the base pay range listed below, potential for a semi-annual discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
Pay Range:
$120,900-$217,650 USD
