Job Overview
Location: Franklin, PA
Lead and contribute to engineering projects focused on developing, maintaining, and improving products and processes, while conducting evaluations, solving technical challenges, and ensuring compliance with global standards. Support team leadership, continuous learning, and change management to drive strategic innovation and operational excellence.
Key Job Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain electrical control and power systems for mobile underground mining equipment.
  • Drive product standardization and optimization initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, reduce assembly time, and lower overall equipment cost.
  • Enhance existing electrical systems while evaluating and integrating emerging technologies suitable for underground mining environments.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Mechanical and Hydraulic Engineering teams, as well as Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Certification groups to ensure successful product development and delivery.
  • Perform testing, validation, and troubleshooting of electrical designs to support both legacy systems and new product development efforts.

Predominant Tasks
1. Review current designs or specific components as assigned for cost reduction.
2. Determine the cause of a field problem and propose corrective action if appropriate.
3. Meet with suppliers as directed concerning changes to, or new requirements for, their products.
4. Perform assigned engineering evaluations, including calculations and testing as required, and consult with more experienced Engineers/Technologists or CTE for problem resolution.
5. Set up and perform engineering tests to satisfy well-defined requirements.
6. Maintain awareness of and familiarity with Global and Regional regulations, standards and industry guidelines applying to KOMATSU MINING products.
7. Make field trips to mines to observe machines in operation and gain an understanding of their application parameters. Develop ability to recognize problems and recommend corrective action.
Qualifications/Requirements
1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant discipline, required.
2. 0-5 years' experience in engineering design, machine application, mining industry, desired.
3. Experienced in the use of computer-aided design (CAD) tools, desired.
4. Participation in implementing Lean Engineering principles, desired.
5. Participation in effective Change Management implementation, desired.
6. Experience in cross-functional team assignment(s), highly desired.
7. Certifications or demonstrated project management, desired.
8. Professional registration and/or membership in committees and/or technical societies, beneficial.
