Job Summary

We are currently looking for a candidate to fill the role of Continuous Improvement Leader. The Continuous Improvement Leader is an expert in continuous improvement processes who uses and facilitates implementation of Howmet Business System (HBS) methods and tools to deliver results in throughput, productivity, cost, and inventory and delivery performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work on plant and department key initiatives and actions using CI principles, tools, methods, and techniques, in direct support of achieving business goals, improved performance, and decreased cost.
  • Identify, assess, facilitate, design, and coach implementation of CI methods, techniques, and procedures, including daily management, problem solving, TPM/OEE, 5S, visual management, work design and A3 improvement plans. Use these tools to lead and facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Liaison with the BU and other plants to bring technology and best practices to the location. Communicate progress and successes within the location and within the business unit.
  • Maintain, compile, analyze, and report metrics of improvement projects.
  • Provide support to the business for effective and efficient implementation of the Howmet Business System to employees and managers.

  • Assess and diagnose problems from a process, quality, and cultural/people perspective.

  • Design and prioritize the development plan and metrics for closing the gap of current and target business change.

  • Teach and coach during execution of plan to help create a self-sufficient and continuous improvement culture.

  • Work on Howmet Business Systems projects to increase productivity, capacity, and yield.


Job Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of work experience involved with driving for results and/or continuous improvement activities.
  • Experience in process improvement.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen Principles.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science related field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a Continuous Improvement role.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead managers and employees to drive major change initiatives with diverse groups.
  • Solid understanding of ABS and/or Toyota Production System and be able to teach/coach and mentor others.
  • Proven results facilitating continuous improvement activity
  • Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to speak and present effectively to personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Lean manufacturing experience in aerospace, defense, or automotive industry.
  • Hoshin framework, TPM/OEE, 5S, Kaizen, visual factory management, work design and A3 thinking and improvement plans improvement atmosphere.
