Job description

Job Summary
As an Extrusion/Punch Technician I, you will be responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operation of an Extrusion Machine or Punch Press to produce high-quality products. This entry-level position involves monitoring processes, conducting inspections, and performing routine maintenance tasks with supervision. The Technician I works closely with and learns from other team members, the production lead, and the Extrusion Supervisor to maintain product quality, resolve equipment issues, and ensure smooth production flow of either a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, the ability to follow work instructions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and a positive attitude. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton's Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.
Essential Functions
  • Help monitor process operations to ensure quality and efficiency
  • Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections
  • Report equipment issues to lead or supervisor as needed
  • Learn to Troubleshoot minor equipment issues on a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine and support resolution
  • Perform grinding tasks as required by production specifications
  • Learn work instructions including machine setup, materials, downstream needs, and packaging
  • Learn to read work orders to determine Part # and materials.
  • Learn to set machine and process parameters for optimal performance of a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine
  • Learn complete tooling setup, cleaning, and storage of a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance
  • Housekeeping as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 years of related experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret shop orders
  • Forklift experience preferred and ability to obtain forklift certification
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Basic mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to use and read measuring tools such as a tape measure and caliper
  • Possess a can-do attitude

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to an 8-hour shift
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE as required. Safety shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection

Key Competencies
  • Able to read and interpret shop orders
  • Able to follow detailed work instructions
  • Able to read and understand CAD drawings and blueprints
  • Able to set machine and process parameters for optimal performance of a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine and Auxiliary equipment
  • Able to troubleshoot minor equipment issues on a Punch Press or Extrusion Machine and support resolution
  • Able to read measurement tools such as a tape measure and caliper
  • Completely and accurately fills out production logs and QC checklist
