Job description

Job Summary:

The purpose of the Twisting and Heatset Utility is to assist with various tasks throughout different areas to support production.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Follow all Safety, Plant & Quality Guidelines
  • Cover various positions to work where needed
  • Ensure complete adherence to all specifications and procedures for correct work practices
  • Clean and maintain equipment in the work area
  • Keep the supervisor informed of any problems or quality issues
  • Follow startup/shutdown procedures to start up/shut down equipment
  • Load materials utilizing a lift truck and/or crane
  • Follow and complete all processing check-off sheets to ensure proper processing
  • Carry out inspection and fill out appropriate inspection sheets
  • Ensure machinery settings are within the specifications supplied
  • Follow all testing and inspection procedures and record results
  • Enter production and produce tickets for material via the use of a computer, scan gun, and printer
  • Assist in changing out large pieces of equipment

Performance Expectations (if applicable):

  • Lifting is required of yarn and packaging material, weighing 1 20 lbs. approximately 90% of the shift.
  • Standing is required 75% of shift for 20 30 minute intervals.
  • Reaching is required for yarn approximately 90% of shift.
  • Stooping is required periodically during shift.
  • Bending is required approximately 200 times per shift to pack yarn.
  • Must be able to use snips and scissors approximately 20 30% of shift.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors and shades.

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Read and write effectively.
  • Basic Math skills.
  • Must be computer-trainable (data entry).
  • Must be able to operate a lift truck and complete proper lift truck training.

Other Requirements:

  • Overtime is required on occasion.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
  • Earplugs and safety glasses must be worn as required.
  • All accidents must be reported immediately.
