Employment Associate Attorney
Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated Employment Associate Attorney to join our litigation-focused employment practice. The successful candidate will provide legal counseling to employers, manage complex employment disputes, and support all phases of litigation from pre-suit counseling through trial. This role emphasizes motion practice, discovery, depositions, and strategic case development in both employment and related commercial litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide counseling to clients on employment law matters including policies, compliance, investigations, and risk management
  • Manage a caseload of employment and commercial litigation matters, handling pleadings, discovery, and motion practice
  • Draft, file, and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions, including summary judgment motions and responses
  • Prepare and defend depositions; conduct witness preparation and manage deposition strategy
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, briefs, and legal correspondence with a high degree of accuracy and persuasiveness
  • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on case strategy, client pitches, and settlement negotiations
  • Participate in trial preparation and, when appropriate, take an active role at trial or in arbitration proceedings
  • Assist in developing business for the practice through client relationship management and contributing to proposals and thought leadership

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Barred in IL
  • 4+ years of employment litigation and counseling experience
  • Proven experience in motion practice, including drafting and arguing summary judgment motions
  • Experience conducting and defending depositions and handling all stages of discovery
  • Strong legal research and writing skills, with experience preparing briefs, pleadings, and client advisories
  • Excellent client counseling and oral advocacy skills; comfortable advising employers and employees on complex legal issues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, manage competing deadlines, and prioritize a busy caseload
  • Familiarity with e-discovery tools and litigation technology; attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Professionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical practice
