    Job description

    The Black Diamond (BD) Field Sales Rep (FSR) is responsible for overseeing/facilitating in-field, sales-focused demos, activations, and clinics for BD retail partners.  
    Duties will be focused on but not limited to gym demos, in-store training, and public-facing activations. FSR will receive directives from Regional Sales Reps and Headquarter (HQ)s sales/marketing management. This role requires a passion for collaboration, innovation, strong communication, exceptional execution, relationship building, and event optimization to drive meaningful results with front-line consumers and our most impactful accounts. The FSR will effectively coordinate with the Regional Sales Reps/HQ Sales team to ensure proper account support through the performance of product demos, clinics, activations, and overall vendor partner care, striving for best-in-class service and sell-through support.  
    The ideal candidate must properly project the “voice and story” of BD across all events and retail activations and trainings. The candidate will have expert knowledge of all mountain activities, as well as social networking channels, and exhibit excellent verbal and writing skills, a sharp wit, and a willingness to work during non-standard business hours. The candidate must be willing to travel extensively throughout the year, subjected to the needs of the role in the territory. Prior experience in customer service, retail floor service, public relations, sales, or event marketing is preferred. 
     

    Education

    Required: Active participant in related fields of BD product demographics and experience in sales and/or marketing related to the outdoor industry.   

    Preferred: BA in marketing, business administration, communications, or related degree.  

    Work Experience

    Required: Experience in marketing, brand activations, event management, specialty outdoor retail/gym, and/or related experience. 

    Preferred: The above two years, specifically in the outdoor industry. 
    Skills and general experience: 
    •    Passionate outdoors person with a proven and exceptional ability in articulating intimate familiarity with all mountain recreation, especially as it relates to BD products and the BD brand. 
    •    Excellent communication and teamwork skills in forward-facing retail and consumer environments.  
    •    Works well under pressure, proactively manages deadline/calendar expectations, and regular demand in time and support.  
    •    Proven account management, customer service, and communication skills. 
    •    Adept with using Word processing and project management tools, team communication software, and Microsoft Office.   
    •    Organized and able to quickly adapt to dynamic demands, while assessing hierarchical priorities within a quickly evolving construct. 
    Required licenses: Driver’s License  

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 
    General physical requirements: 10% Sedentary work, 90% Active Work, must be able to lift 50+ lbs.  
    Visual acuity requirements: Close, Color, Depth perception, Ability to adjust focus.

    Physical working conditions: 50% Inside environment, 50% outdoor environment; includes long days activating on behalf of BD performing events, demos, clinics in all seasons.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 
    Responsible and authorized to continuously improve upon and perform the following functions in accordance with BD’s Quality System and Safety and Employee Policy procedures and policies: 
    1.    Responsible for the development and care of our retail partners through demos, events, and product clinic support.    
    2.    Document, share, and outline seasonal clinic details, including assortment details by door, to support in-house reps to help create best-in-class service and support at the individual door level. 
    3.    Travel to or coordinate support for individual doors that are not directly supported by in-house representation. 
    4.    Procure product/SWAG materials for rep supported travel/visits to National Account doors. 
    5.    Procure product through in-house processes to support National Account needs for review, demo, training, plan-o-gram requests. 
    6.    Build and maintain the most authentic brand and be the steward of the brand in our industry through the performance of on-brand experiences, clinics, events, and retail collaboration.  
    7.    Oversee and manage National Account [Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) and Mountain Equipment Company (MEC)] event equipment (e.g., vehicles, trailer, tents, gear, etc.).  
    8.    Ensure BD brand vision, campaigns, voice and strategy are correctly integrated into all account events and programs.  
    9.    Create and drive an overall experiential marketing plan. Proactively recommend innovations pre/onsite/post events to increase program value to REI, MEC, attendees, and BD. 
    10.    Ability to manage deliverables for partnerships/sponsorships in a timely manner. 
    11.    Negotiate activations into sponsorships and contracts. 
    12.    Drive continuous improvement in program efficiency and effectiveness through thoughtful execution. This includes ensuring goals and success metrics are trending according to plan and adjusting the program to address business needs. 
    13.    Timely reporting that showcases progress to goals and overall business impact includes clear goals, targets and key performance indicators. 
    14.    Oversee management of account-specific budget; provide accurate forecasts and make sound financial decisions and investments to ensure a profitable sales goal. 
    15.    Create innovative experiences across all account sales and marketing platforms. 
    16.    Coordinate efforts of outside vendors. 
    17.    Initiate and complete projects in a timely and responsible manner.
