    Job description

    Oversees trade & brokerage operations ensuring accurate and timely reporting, the overall integrity of the company’s financial data, and compliance with accounting policies, contractual obligations, and company requirements. Meaningfully impacts the organization’s financial and operational performance by providing data-informed insights and recommendations. Guides the team responsible for reporting, research, data review, month end activities, accruals, and key performance metrics tracking for trade promotion, brokerage operations, and customer deductions. Optimizes policies, procedures, and business practices.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Manages a team of entry to established level individual contributors and/or supervisors. Provides guidance, coaching, and support to ensure successful delivery of department goals. Responsible for HR activities such as hiring, terminations, performance management, goal setting, team member development, scheduling, etc. Enforces and meaningfully contributes to the development of systems, policies, and procedures. Participates in strategic planning for the function.

    2. Implements and maintains internal controls, policies, procedures, and system/process enhancements to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency. Ensures compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, established business requirements, and all relevant laws and regulations.

    3. Leads the execution and financial management of trade promotion, deduction, and brokerage programs across sales teams, ensuring accurate accruals, broker commission payments, customer settlements, and compliance with company policies and contractual agreements.

    4. Oversees the collection, evaluation, and reporting of data and key metrics to identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, financial performance, and performance relative to budget.

    5. Partners closely across functions (i.e., Sales, BD, Supply Chain, Customer Service, AR, Finance, etc.) to align trade promotion activities with customer demand, supply availability, financial objectives, and overall business performance.

    6. Owns responsibility for payment approvals, customer deduction settlements, supporting documentation, and compliance with established authorization requirements.

    7. Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of financial data, supporting documentation, records retention, and internal and external audit support.

    8. Guides large cross-functional projects focused on process improvement, automation initiatives, and financial system enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

    Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience)

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent (i.e., Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, etc.)

    • 6+ years of relevant experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

    • 2+ year of leadership experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

    Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Experience in trade promotion, brokerage, and deduction accounting

    • Strong understanding of trade promotion accounting, accruals, deductions, and broker commission programs

    • Advanced knowledge of accounting processes and best practices

    • Effective leadership skills with the ability to develop, mentor, coach, support, and motivate a team

    • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact at all levels internally and externally

    • Highly skilled at financial reporting, data review, identifying trends, and providing strategic insights and recommendations

    • Ability to identify and implement process improvements

    • Sound project management skills with the ability to impact results

    • Highly skilled at resource management, delegation, and prioritization

    • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.) and enterprise resource planning systems (i.e. SAP, S4/HANA, etc.) Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Finance or accounting experience in the manufacturing or consumer products industry

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or other relevant professional certifications

    • Experience with SAP, M-Tech, Vistex, Blacksmith, HighRadius, or similar trade promotion, brokerage, and financial systems

    Physical Demands

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

    Working Conditions & Travel Requirements

    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office environment.

    • The noise level of the environment is usually moderate.
