Job description

Device Research and Early Develop Co-Op We are seeking a motivated student to join our team focused on the development and characterization of medical devices. This position offers students an opportunity to gain industry experience in testing, data analysis, and documentation in the regulated field of medical device development. Student activities will contribute to organizational research and development goals.

This a 12 month Co-Op role. Scope: Local, onsite. Candidates will be based at 1 Bayer Dr, Indianola, PA, 15051.

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The primary responsibilities of this role are to: Design and develop prototype components or subassemblies for test fixtures and future medical devices; Develop test methods and protocols to be used for the evaluation of medical devices; Set up and execute experimental tests in a laboratory setting to provide data indicating the performance of medical devices; Contribute to the development of data analysis tools to improve the efficiency of evaluating experimental results; Prepare formal test reports to provide a record of testing activities and results; Prepare and present findings to cross-functional program teams; Contribute to deliverables of support fielded products and required documentation for products under development. Key Working Relationships: Candidates will interface with internal stakeholders, working with multidisciplinary teams including engineering teams in research as well as program teams working on fielded products or products in development. Relationships include: Systems Engineers Mechanical Engineers Electrical Engineers Software Engineers Human Factors Engineers Clinical (internal) Regulatory WHO YOU ARE Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following: Required Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD program and returning to their program following completion of the co-op; Knowledge and application of engineering and scientific concepts; Ability to apply technology, engineering concepts, and methodologies to develop solutions; Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with data analysis and application development in Python; Previous lab or medical device experience; Experience with hardware design and rapid prototyping, including mechanical and/or electrical design and fabrication. Employees can expect to be paid a salary of approximately between $24.00 to $45.50. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant)
