Job Description

The Lead Retail Sales Associate is a full-time hourly leadership position responsible for driving sales performance, delivering exceptional guest experiences, and supporting the daily operations of the resort's luxury retail boutiques. As a sales-focused leader and shop advocate, this role serves as the primary point person on the sales floor, coaching and inspiring associates to achieve sales goals while maintaining the highest standards of visual presentation, merchandising, and operational excellence.

Reporting directly to the Retail Supervisor, the Lead Retail Sales Associate oversees daily shop operations, supports the development of the sales team, and ensures consistent execution of company selling strategies. This position plays a critical role in maximizing sales, building guest loyalty, enhancing the shopping experience, and cultivating a positive, high-performing team culture.

The Lead Retail Sales Associate is accountable for helping achieve budgeted sales goals, supporting profitability, championing merchandising initiatives, and serving as a brand ambassador for Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Retail.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Sales Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead by example on the sales floor, consistently delivering exceptional guest service and sales results.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop sales associates to maximize selling effectiveness and individual performance.
  • Foster a sales-driven culture focused on achieving and exceeding budgeted sales goals, ADS, UPT, SPH, conversion, and guest engagement metrics.
  • Conduct daily sales coaching conversations and product knowledge training.
  • Motivate team members through recognition, accountability, and performance-based coaching.
  • Reinforce company selling standards and luxury service expectations.
  • Assist with onboarding and ongoing development of new sales associates.
  • Create an energetic, positive, and guest-focused store culture.

Shop Ownership & Oversight

  • Act as the shop advocate and operational leader for assigned retail locations.
  • Maintain strong command of daily shop operations and guest experience.
  • Ensure store presentation, cleanliness, organization, and merchandising standards are consistently executed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to maintain a full and abundant shopping environment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve sales performance, product placement, and guest engagement.
  • Support loss prevention and asset protection initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Selling Effectiveness & Product Commentary

  • Serve as the product expert within the boutique, delivering compelling product storytelling and commentary.
  • Create excitement around new launches, promotions, seasonal collections, and featured merchandise.
  • Build meaningful relationships with guests through personalized selling and clienteling techniques.
  • Drive customer loyalty through follow-up, relationship building, and exceptional service.
  • Support company initiatives designed to increase sales, conversion, and guest satisfaction.
  • Utilize business reporting and sales data to identify opportunities and drive performance.
  • Visual Merchandising & Brand Presentation
  • Execute floor sets, seasonal transitions, and merchandising updates.
  • Maintain luxury retail presentation standards throughout all selling areas.
  • Partner with the buying team and Retail Manager to support merchandising strategies and product launches.
  • Ensure displays remain fresh, visually compelling, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Monitor product placement and inventory presentation to maximize sales opportunities.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Lead daily sales floor execution and associate coaching.
  • Review sales performance and business trends.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and provide follow-up accountability.
  • Complete merchandise replenishment and recovery.
  • Update communication platforms and operational tools.
  • Deliver exceptional guest interactions and support service recovery when needed.

Weekly Responsibilities

  • Attend Retail Leadership meetings.
  • Review and communicate sales results, opportunities, and action plans.
  • Execute product launches, promotions, and special events.
  • Submit buyer feedback and merchandise performance commentary.

Monthly & Quarterly Responsibilities

  • Support physical inventory and cycle counts.
  • Participate in training and development planning.
  • Coordinate shop deep-cleaning and presentation initiatives.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve team performance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years of retail sales leadership experience, preferably in luxury retail, hospitality, or a related industry.
  • Proven ability to drive sales results and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong coaching, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Passion for luxury retail, merchandising, and creating memorable guest experiences.
  • Experience building client relationships and delivering personalized service.

  • Proficient in POS systems, retail technology, and Microsoft Office applications.
