Are you ready to solve complex opportunities related to end-to-end logistics operations. Amazon is seeking an accomplished Global Logistics Engineer to champion operational innovation and build best-in-class logistics solutions across our global network.
This isn't just a job - it's an opportunity to redefine the boundaries of what's possible in logistics. As our Global Logistics Engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing worldwide transportation, warehouse topology, distribution, and supply chain processes - spanning inbound, outbound, forward, and reverse freight flows across globally - to improve efficiency, reduce costs, strengthen compliance, and support customer delivery requirements.
This role works cross-functionally with carriers, brokers, finance, trade compliance, IT, procurement, and regional logistics teams to ensure efficient operations
The Global Logistics Engineer partners across Global Transportation & Logistics (GTL), Global RAD Operations (GRO), Tech Supply Chain (TSC), and external logistics providers to turn data into action and deliver scalable transportation solutions.
This is an individual contributor role with significant informal leadership responsibility - influencing decisions up and down our organization and across partner teams without direct authority. Key job responsibilities
Data, Analytics & Cost Optimization
- Build and maintain dashboards providing end-to-end shipment visibility across global regions.
- Identify, quantify, and implement cost savings through carrier rate analysis, service optimization, and process automation
- Track ROI and develop insight-first narratives for leadership.
- Drive root cause analysis on logistics failures and corrective actions.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Consolidate fragmented workflows into unified systems.
- Support TMS improvements and champion AI/ML, scripting, and automation to eliminate manual processes and scale operations
- Drive cross-functional projects from requirements through deployment managing timelines, stakeholder alignment, and risk escalation.
- Document SOPs and engineering standards for global use.
Network Design & Optimization
- Conduct quantitative analyses on network topology, consolidation modeling, and transportation efficiency to deliver data-driven recommendations for senior leadership.
- Model origin-destination flows, mode mix (ocean, air, rail, truckload, LTL, parcel, inter-modal), and consolidation strategies to minimize landed cost
- Provide feasibility analysis and cost modeling for new business opportunities to inform go/no-go decisions.
Carrier Strategy, Compliance & Sustainability
- Support carrier sourcing, onboarding, rate analysis, and performance management across all modes.
- Design processes supporting trade compliance, customs, Incoterms, and dangerous goods regulations.
- Develop sustainability metrics aligned with Science Based Targets including Scope 3 emissions.
Global Collaboration & Business Requirements
- Collaborate across EMEA, APAC, LATAM, and the Americas to align logistics standards, processes, and reporting
- Author Business Requirements Documents translating operational needs into system enhancements and validate post-deployment results.
