Job description

As a Creative Director on Amazon's Brand Innovation Lab team, you will be leading teams in creating one-of-a-kind campaigns for a wide range of global brands from creative brief to launch.
You'll work with a team of art directors, copywriters, designers, strategists, solutions managers, creative technologists and content producers to create innovative work by coming up with ideas that connect brands to the Amazon canvas (45+ Amazon brands including Alexa, Twitch, IMDb, Prime Video). You'll lead projects and own client relationships, focusing on creating work that benefits the end customer and pushes the creative envelope.
You'll investigate Amazon/3P data to form insights that inspire high-level strategies and campaign frameworks that solve business needs for Fashion, FinServ, CPG and Lifestyle brands. You will leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to push creative boundaries, drive efficiency, and unlock new storytelling formats for advertisers.
You will think across Amazon platforms and beyond, manage complex projects, and create tailored content across channels driving the marketing objectives of clients. You will effectively communicate with key stakeholders and external media and creative agencies. You will work with senior leadership to create processes and establish best practices that drive creative and operational excellence. And finally, you will work towards preserving the team culture of collaboration, teamwork, innovation, inspiration, and foster positive internal and agency relationships.
Key job responsibilities
- Raise the bar on creative excellence across campaign work
- Own and grow client relationships by establishing trust through creative excellence, proactive communication, and a deep understanding of advertiser goals and category dynamics
- Define the creative strategy for multiple advertisers
- Use strategic research and/or data to develop campaign insights and ideas
- Concept, pitch, design, and execute first-of-its-kind ad campaigns and experiences for global brands, from developing the creative brief to launch
- Defend and champion great ideas through intelligent and persuasive creative rationales
- Champion the end customer in every creative decision, ensuring campaigns deliver genuine value and utility to Amazon customers while meeting advertiser objectives
- Explore and integrate AI-powered creative tools (generative imagery, dynamic content, personalization engines) into campaign development
- Bring deep expertise in the end-to-end creative production process, ensuring multi-channel executions are executed at the highest quality while meeting timelines, budgets, and technical specifications
- Independently creative direct campaigns and collaborate with internal teams, clients, and external agency partners
- Direct creative disciplines outside your area of functional expertise and provide feedback in all stages of the creative development process
- Mentor and inspire art directors, copywriters, designers, program managers, developers, and content producers to create customer-focused solutions that deliver on client objectives
- Provide in-depth understanding of art-direction and copywriting for all formats-digital, print, out-of-home, video, and more
- Make creative trade-off decisions between teams, clients, and end-customer needs
- Measure and evaluate current processes within the department and improve them through documentation

- Partner with the Alexa team to create a campaign for a fashion brand
- Create an AI-powered interactive shopping experience for a lifestyle brand's new collection launch

- Work through creative messaging feedback with Legal and PR
- Write documentation to improve creative processes
- Review video edits for a fashion brand's sponsorship of a new Prime Video series

Brand Innovation Lab (BIL) is an award-winning team that conceptualizes and executes bespoke advertising experiences for global brands-including Nike, Purina, Gap, Santander, and P&G-who invest in media with Amazon Ads, scaling successful campaign elements as new products or features in existing products. Our global team of storytellers and innovators includes creatives, strategists, design technologists, engineers, producers and more, collaborating to create customer-obsessed solutions across the Amazon canvas (Alexa, Twitch, Prime Video, Fire TV, etc.) that are customized to our advertisers' goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 8+ years of driving compelling creative strategy and execution at an agency or in-house creative team experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Candidate must have an online portfolio or work samples that feature interesting, innovative, insight-driven campaigns and ideas that solve an advertiser problem through a variety of different media channels, including but not limited to video, social, digital, activations, radio, and outdoor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing cross-functional relationships with product, consumer research and marketing teams to develop strategy and consumer insights that drive compelling creative executions
- Experience leading creative development of innovative creative from concept to delivery
- Experience presenting creative concepts effectively to senior executives
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
- Familiarity with generative AI tools (e.g., image generators, LLM-based copywriting assistants, video synthesis tools) and an understanding of how to incorporate them into creative workflows to accelerate ideation, production, and personalization at scale

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
