Job description

Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Reports to: HR Substitute Specialist/Campus Administration/Classroom Teacher
Dept./School: Assigned Campus
Wage/Hour Status: Non Exempt
Pay Grade: $85 - $115 per day, based on credentials
Date Revised: 6/3/2025
Primary Purpose:
The Wichita Falls ISD is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Substitute Teacher.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of subjects assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Maintain emotional control under stress
Ability to follow written instructions
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  2. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  3. Maintain daily attendance in classroom(s) assigned.
  4. Implement lesson plans left by classroom teacher, or as assigned by campus administration.
  5. Maintain a professional relationship with campus staff.
  6. Be a positive role model for students.
  7. Support mission of school district.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
