What You'll Do
As a Residential Route Supervisor, you will:
  • Supervise residential drivers and oversee daily route operations.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, route observations, and weekly safety meetings.
  • Ensure drivers complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Monitor route productivity, service quality, and labor efficiency.
  • Respond to customer concerns and resolve service issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Conduct ride-alongs and route observations to identify coaching opportunities.
  • Monitor driver attendance, DOT Hours of Service compliance, and adherence to company policies.
  • Coordinate vehicle repairs and maintenance with the Maintenance Department.
  • Investigate accidents, complete incident reports, and assist with workers' compensation and property damage claims.
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and administer corrective action when appropriate.
  • Assist with route coverage and operate collection vehicles when business needs require.
  • Foster a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment aligned with Waste Pro's Core Values.

Qualifications
We're looking for candidates with:
  • Three to five years of experience in transportation, logistics, waste management, or a related operations environment; OR an associate degree and at least two years of supervisory experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous supervisory or management experience
  • Knowledge of Smith System and/or Decision Driving principles
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, ANSI, and other applicable safety regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
  • Flexibility to support operations, including occasional weekends, holidays, and after-hours calls

License Requirements
Valid Class A or Class B CDL preferred. Candidates who do not currently possess a CDL must be able to obtain one within three (3) months of hire.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
This is primarily a field-based position and requires the ability to:
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Walk active routes and conduct field observations.
  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Drive company vehicles.
  • Work in environments with exposure to traffic, noise, dirt, odors, and other outdoor conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:
* Requires a High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in the transportation, management, logistics or waste industry; or
* Associate's Degree or minimum of 2 years experience in transportation, logistics, or solid waste operations in which coaching, routing assessments and supervising employees are requirements of the role.
* Knowledge and prior application of Smith System and/or Decision Driving principles and techniques.
* Basic computer skills and general knowledge of Microsoft applications.
* Previous supervisory or management experience preferred.
* Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, ANSI and other related federal, state & local regulations.
* Valid class A or B commercial driver's license (or ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire) with a personal and business driving record that meets Waste Pro standards and insurance requirements.
* Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
* Proven customer service skills.
* Must be able to work independently make decisions and resolve problems.
* Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and be available to address operational issues by phone at all times.
* Ability to maintain and portray a positive attitude towards staff and customers.
* Knowledge of first aid techniques helpful.

* Required to drive a vehicle and work outside: most of the work day;

* Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements part of the work day.
