Job description

Walsworth is a top-five book and magazine printer, a catalog printer, and the only family-owned printer of yearbooks. We are seeking a Sales Development Representative to join our Commercial Sales team. Training for this role will be based out of our Walsworth – Fulton, Walsworth – Marceline, Walsworth – Ripon and/or Walsworth – Saint Joseph locations. This role does not have any direct reports. This role will report to a Commercial Sales Manager.

Job Summary:

As a Walsworth Commercial Sales Representative, you will participate in a paid, 6-month sales training program designed to equip you with foundational Print Industry knowledge and an overview of Walsworth’s printing process, products, departments and Commercial Sales practices aimed to assist you in creating a sales pipeline that will help you accomplish your professional and personal goals. Upon completion of the 6-month Sales Development Program, you will be fully equipped to start your Walsworth Commercial Sales Representative career!

  • How to communicate client requirements to production and leadership teams

Responsibilities During Training:  

  • Follow prescribed training schedule, reporting, and department transitions in coordination with Department Managers.
  • Attain practical knowledge of department functions, workflows, machine operations, and common problems encountered in each department.
  • Study, document, and understand manufacturing processes, procedures, and quality checks to fully comprehend our manufacturing process with the ability to explain each step when necessary.
  • Complete assigned tasks, objectives and/or goals associated with each department to show understanding of each department’s necessity and responsibilities.
  • Familiarize and differentiate company product lines and what fits into our platform sweet spots.
  • Understand company policy and procedures to work across departments to fulfill the needs of a Commercial Sales Representative and to accomplish company goals.
  • Comply with all safety, work rules, and regulations.

Responsibilities After Training:

  • Submits short and long-range sales plans and prepares sales strategies utilizing available marketing programs to reach nominated targets.
  • Responsible for retaining long-term customer relationships with established clients. Ensures that clients receive high-quality customer service.
  • Maintain post-sale contact with customers to facilitate a positive and productive long-term relationship.
  • Serve as the primary contact for the assigned customers. Enhance the company's position and reputation by properly servicing and corresponding with all assigned accounts in a dependable and timely manner.
  • Enhance customer relationships by working closely with customers on the development of targeted solutions and new business opportunities.
  • Prepare and submit sales reports and documentation regarding results, opportunities, and challenges in the sales territory. Analyze reports and data to identify revenue and cost containment opportunities.
  • Assist in the implementation and execution of products and services. Consult with customers to understand business issues and goals and works with the customer to develop improved solutions to business needs.
  • Prepare quote requests for the accounts assigned.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge.
  • Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in the print industry is helpful, but not required
  • Salesforce experience is helpful, but not required
  • Availability to travel and/or temporarily relocate as needed for training
  • United States work authorization is required (Walsworth does not offer employment sponsorship)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
