Job description

TrinityRail Maintenance Services, Inc is seeking a talented team player to fill the opening of Maintenance Equipment Technician on 2nd shift at our Shell Rock, IA facility.
This position will support the daily maintenance functions, at a career level, and will primarily perform, but not be limited to, troubleshooting and repairing machines and equipment, automation controls, parts and material requisitioning, estimating jobs, and any other duties as assigned by the maintenance management team. This position will also provide troubleshooting assistance when and where needed, and effectively communicate with the site management team to promote excellent customer service. This position will also be involved in testing new equipment and troubleshooting operation for optimal efficiency. Must be fluent in computers and technology to maintain documentation within our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). All maintenance personnel within TrinityRail Maintenance Services will be required to follow all safety rules and practices.
What you'll do :
  • Exhibit Trinity Core Values and TrinityRail Maintenance Services 3 Ts (take care of our people, trust, and transparency).
  • Be present and available for work.
  • Performs basic repairs on facility systems and equipment including but not limited to plumbing, electrical systems/components, HVAC, carpentry, lighting, etc.
  • Performs basic repairs on production equipment including all mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Perform preventative/predictive maintenance and reliability repairs to electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic production and mechanical equipment, machinery and components.
  • Perform Electrical Repairs on Electrical Disconnects, Voltages to include 24 VAC, to 480 VAC and DC Voltages up to 600 Volts on some machines.
  • Installation of electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment, following electrical code, manuals, schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications using electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • May test/install new equipment and debug to make adjustments to equipment for optimal operation.
  • Performs work based on dispatched service and daily/weekly work schedules.
  • Reviews work as required to document specific needs (materials, supplies, instructions, etc).
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Works with subcontractor activities as directed by supervisor or work schedule.
  • Reads schematics/drawings - pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
What you'll need :
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a repair technician in an industrial setting in large steel manufacturing or related field required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Experience troubleshooting low voltage controls.
  • Ability to receive detailed instructions and work under close supervision.
  • Ability to learn job skills, company policies, and processes to do routine tasks.
  • Ability to follow verbal or simple written instructions and procedures.
  • May need to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialization.
  • Ability to use standard approaches and allow higher level technicians to handle more complex issues.
  • Must learn and promote the structured safety culture within TrinityRail Maintenance Services.
Preferred Qualifications :
  • Advanced mechanical skills preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and rebuilding various types of power transfer devices, pumps and gearboxes on production equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
