We have partnered with a Consulting Engineers for the Utility Industries company in the Raleigh, NC area to provide them with a Senior Financial Analyst.  Please review the below description and let us know if you are interested.

Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Senior Financial Analyst:

#1. 10 plus years of utility and rate experience such as energy companies, electrical, gas, solar, wind, water, sewer, municipal and government.

#2. Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or mathematics. CPA or MBA preferred.

#3. Must be proficient in Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and other MS Office applications.

#4. Utility experience is a must.

Responsibilities of the Senior Financial Analyst:

This position will support the Financial Services Department in providing professional accounting and financial-related advisory services to municipal utilities and electric cooperatives. Skills include:

  • Updating, reviewing, and building Excel models and Access databases.
  • Completing and managing cost-of-service studies.
  • Designing utility rates.
  • Assisting in preparation of financial planning and forecasting.
  • Providing cost/benefit analyses.
  • Preparing and/or giving presentations.
  • Giving expert testimony on behalf of our clients.
  • This position reports to the Vice President of Financial Services. This position may temporarily, or on an ongoing basis, direct the activities of others as determined appropriate by supervisory personnel.

Requirements for the Senior Financial Analyst:

  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Must be able to work independently and part of a team.
  • Must be able to manage time across multiple projects.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of utility rates, cost allocation methodologies, and regulatory accounting procedures.
  • Must understand the technological, market, and commercial trends driving the current utility industry transformation.
  • Must build and maintain long-term project and business advisory relationships, including actively participating in industry groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of rate and/or utility experience.
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or mathematics. CPA or MBA preferred.

  • Utility experience is a must.
