Senior Principal System Engineer - New Product Development

Tennant is looking for a Sr. Principal System Engineer Leader to join the Corporate R&D New Product Development team. In this role, you will have a direct impact on Tennant's innovation. You will be responsible for system architecture and development on a variety of machine and technology development projects. You will work cross-functionally to develop and launch these products globally.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead technical developments of new machine designs or major technology implementations.
  • Lead innovations to boost efficiency of NPD development by using MBSE tools, concepts, and Modeling/Simulation methods.
  • Establish standardized NPD process leveraging up to date industry standards and technologies.
  • Improve NPD test efficiencies through test simulation, virtual testing, and test automation.
  • Establish functional requirements and performance targets for systems/subsystems
  • Develop and track cost estimates (product and project)
  • Coordinate and Conduct Design Reviews
  • Design systems to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and Maintain MS Project based technical development schedules
  • Develop Product Requirement Specifications (PRS) based on Product Requirements Document (PRD)
  • Coordinate and implement design and analysis activities
  • Identify risks/mitigations and track to closure in Issue Tracker
  • Lead problem and failure investigations (Field and Test)
  • Present to both internal and external groups
  • Travel as needed

Required Experience:
  • BS (MS preferred) in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • At least 15 years of demonstrated ability to deliver excellent engineering products to established timelines.
  • Rich experience in MBSE (Model Based System Engineering) and SysML tools.
  • Rich experience in simulation tools and system modeling is highly preferred.
  • Experience in virtual lab and virtual testing through test automation methods and simulated testing is highly preferred.
  • Global design leadership and implementation experience.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred. Green Belt accepted.
  • Prior vehicle system design highly desirable.
  • Ability to present complex technical information to internal and external customers.
  • Capable of leading technical teams through structured problem solving.
  • Experience working on cross functional teams

Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $132,400 - $205,100
Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. Tennant Co. reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualifications of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity. Total Compensation = Base Salary + Benefits
