Position Overview:
Make a lasting impact from the very beginning of life. Alta Bates Summit Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Occupational Therapist - NICU to join our specialized neonatal team. In this unique role, you will help support the growth, development, and long-term outcomes of premature and medically fragile infants during some of their most critical moments.
Working in a collaborative Level III NICU environment, you'll partner closely with neonatologists, nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists, and families to provide individualized developmental care. Through expert assessment and therapeutic intervention, you'll address feeding challenges, sensory processing needs, neuromotor development, positioning, and self-regulation skills to help infants thrive and reach their fullest potential.
Beyond direct patient care, you'll play an invaluable role in empowering and educating parents, helping them build confidence as they support their baby's developmental journey both in the NICU and beyond.
What You'll Do
Perform comprehensive developmental assessments for premature and medically complex infants.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on feeding, sensory integration, neurodevelopment, positioning, and functional outcomes.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary NICU team to deliver family-centered, evidence-based care.
Educate, coach, and support parents and caregivers to promote bonding and developmental success.
Monitor patient progress and adapt interventions to meet evolving clinical needs.
Maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance while delivering exceptional patient care.

OR OLP-Occupational Limited Permit
BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC LICENSURES & CERTIFICATIONS:

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
2 years of recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Critical thinking, complex problems solving, decisive judgement and ability to work independently.
Knowledge and application of professional practice and regulatory requirements.
Must be able to work in demanding work environment, organize multiple priorities completing work duties within expected timelines and requirements.
Computer and required technology proficiency/competencies.
Demonstrates effective and efficient professional communication (verbal & written) skills as well as interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, teamwork/collaboration, customer service and community relations abilities.
Able to retain and apply new knowledge & skills.

Pay Range is $61.92 to $77.39 / hour
The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
