Job description

As our Vice President of Deposit and Payment Operations, you’ll provide strategic leadership for our deposit and payment operations functions, ensuring exceptional service, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and sustainable growth across our payment and deposit product portfolio.

What You'll Do (Your Impact)

  • Lead Strategic Growth by developing and executing strategies that achieve annual growth targets for deposits, credit card products, and payment services while supporting the credit union's overall vision.
  • Champion Operational Excellence by overseeing all aspects of deposit and payment operations, including account opening and maintenance, check processing, electronic funds transfers, wire transfers, card services, and fraud prevention.
  • Drive Innovation & Improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance products, services, systems, and processes through operational efficiencies, automation, and emerging industry trends.
  • Ensure Compliance & Risk Management by maintaining policies, procedures, and practices that align with regulatory requirements, internal standards, and sound risk mitigation strategies.
  • Leverage Data & Insights to establish strategic direction for deposit products, payment services, and supporting operations that meet member needs and drive profitable growth.
  • Build Strong Partnerships with vendors, business partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes and improve organizational performance.
  • Manage Financial Performance by monitoring revenue and expense performance, forecasting results, and making strategic adjustments to achieve business objectives.
  • Inspire & Develop Talent by fostering a culture of accountability, recognition, growth, and continuous learning while leading and developing a high-performing operations team.
  • Enhance the Member Experience by ensuring deposit and payment services are efficient, reliable, secure, and responsive to the evolving needs of members and prospective members.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (or equivalent applicable experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in deposit and payment operations within a credit union or financial institution.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience with a demonstrated ability to build, develop, and lead successful teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of deposit products, payment services, card operations, fraud prevention, and related regulations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and drive informed business decisions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven experience managing operational performance, vendor relationships, and strategic initiatives.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other relevant financial services technologies and systems.
