Job description

Location: Arlington, VA, United States

Security Clearance: Top Secret (U.S. citizens only, active and existing required on day 1)

Role Overview

BBN is seeking a Signal Processing Research Scientist to develop advanced prototype systems that exploit the RF spectrum. You will work under the guidance of a senior engineer on small, applied research projects, designing and implementing signal processing algorithms in novel hardware and validating them in both laboratory and field environments.

What You Will Do
  • Work with a small team on cutting‑edge research and development projects.
  • Collaborate with world‑class researchers and engineers who embrace innovation.
  • Advance applied research using algorithm development, data analysis in MATLAB and Python, embedded development and test scripting in C/C++, system integration, and software/hardware testing.
  • Contribute to technical reports, proposals, publications, and presentations.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • BS with 5 years of relevant experience, or MS with 3 years, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
  • Development experience using C, C++, Python, MATLAB, and/or Java applied to signal processing challenges.
  • Active Top Secret government security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and direct tasks for small teams.
  • Solid and creative programming skills.
  • Design and development experience with combined hardware and software systems.
  • Experience with or interest in sensors, actuators, control systems, and systems that interact with the physical world.
Other Information

Salary range: USD 95,500 – 181,700 (dependent on experience). Position may require overnight travel. Onsite work location. RTX offers a comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, 401(k) match, etc.).
